Hello ladies. I'm new to posting on this forum as you can see
but ihave a question. Are you all expecting to make a profit from your wedding this came up at work and I was shocked at some people's opinions.

I would be highly shocked if I made a profit from our wedding. I'm having a wedding to marry my best friend and have our closest friends and family there to be a part of it.

Re: opinions
My FH and I are luckily having alot of the wedding paid for by our parents. So, yes I guess technically we would be profiting- But overall, I am sure the amount spent on the wedding by our family will exceed the amount in gifts that we get. When people say they are 'profiting' they are usually referring to just the cost of the venue and the amount they pay per plate for their guests, not the other vendors. For a LI wedding, I think it is pretty impossible to profit overall lol

Re: opinions
It is not likely I will 'profit' from my wedding. Although we are sticking to a very small Budget, and saving a lot, My wedding will be small, and no matter how generous the gifts, I doubt I will recoup every dollar spent. Any gifts we get will be a huge help toward saving for a home, and since we are paying cash for the wedding, we luckily wont have any debt to pay off which of course helps.I know friends who have made back twice what they spent, but I also have friends who didn't even get back half. It's really hard to guess and not safe to depend on a certain amount of gifts because ya never know!

I'm not looking to make a profit nor do I care if I make one. I'm not having a wedding to get money. We're having a wedding to share our marriage with our friends and family. That is what is important to us.

Absolutely not. We are spending a lot on our wedding. We could have cut costs a lot by having our wedding during the off season but FH and I felt this is a once in a lifetime thing and we are doing it how we want. Our wedding is about us, celebrating our love with our close friends and family.

Even though my parents are footing a big portion of the bill (the venue and dress), everything else is definitely adding up! I'll be happy if we break even... Although it would be great to have a start on a down payment for a house!Welcome New Vendors
