I am planning on doing boxed cupcakes for favors but FH also wanted to do something with our names on it and he collects shot glasses so I thought it might be cute to also do shot glasses as well. BUUUTTTT, then I wondered if it was tacky to have shot glasses as wedding favors.
What do you guys think? Honest opinions please?

I don't think it's tacky..>I've recieved them in the past. They are cute... The only thing is I never really use it, b/c I prefer not to take a shot out of a glass that has someone else name on it... That's just me though.
What if you just did your monogram... that way it's not actaully your names so to speak... That will be super cute

I don't think its tacky, but maybe you should do something that kinda goes with the cupcake...not really sure what, but I feel like if I got that I would be like ok a cupcake and a shot glass I don't get it. JMO
eta: maybe like those personalized packets of tea or coffee, that could go with a cupcake.

We got beer steins as a favor once...one for FH and myslef...it has their names and date on it. It's cute and all, but 99% of the time it's in the faaar back part of my cabinet!! HAHAHA. There's a shot glass I got with the monogram that is used all the time. The names... not so much LOL

Alright, you asked for honest. I would be one of the guests who thinks it's tacky. I think your more traditional guests will probably think so....not sure how many older adults will be there.
Don't get me wrong, I think it's an AWESOME idea. I did Custom Beer Koozies for FH's 30th Birthday.....but I wouldn't do it for a wedding. That's my honest, honest opinion. If you decide to do it though...the monogram idea is nice.

Could you put the cupcakes in small boxes with your name/monogram on it?

i agree with you though. I am sorry but if i get glasses of any kind with peoples names on them not like i am going to pull them out and use them. Lets say i have guests over, i am not gonna give everyone a set of glasses and then for myself have one that is going to obviously be a favor from a wedding and drinking it while it has others names on it. ANd not like youre going to use it to serve others either.
I mean most things with names on it alot of ppl do say they dont really use. If i am gonna use anything, might as well use the whole set of something i have

Hey I LOVE it! I think it's hysterical. And to be perfectly honest I never used the glass I had with their names on it... but I have this 1 friend who would always come over and use it all the time (she didn't even know the people). So I would put it in the back of the cabinet and whenever she came over it magically found it's way to the front! Ha ha ha! I don't do shots anymore (my shot days are over - but I do still drink... i dont think that will ever stop!) but the shot glasses came in handy for parties I've had! There's plenty of strange things I do and say all the time! Actually I end up deleting most of what I write on here before I post it becuase I don't want it to come accross the wrong way. I'm hardly ever serious and that can be hard to convey in writing unless you know me!
On anoher note.. i was thinking of having shot glasses and koozies or flasks made up for the bridal party but not for the wedding favors. My group are real big drinkers! So anything drink related they will love! Maybe if you really want them but don't know if you should do it for the whole wedding.. you can at least do it for the bridal party.
I like the wine topper favors... those tend to come in handy every once in a while. I use that.

I would definately go with the monogram over the names. I think anything with names on it should be given to people who are closer to you.. and maybe not as a general gift to everyone. I once had someone ask me if she should do umbrellas as a favor for a shower.. but write the peoples names on the unbrella with the date. Umbrellas are always usable.. but I don't think I would want to be trotting aroung with a MINI and ROCCO umbrella (not to mention their cute lil names sound like some sort of cartoon show!).

i dont think its tacky at all but i dont think i would ever use it for anything if it had someones name on it but thats just me...on another note ive been to many weddings and have gotten a variety of things and i just think u should do whatever will make u guys happy hth and good luck

The shot glasses are not tacky IMO...but you can use a monogram or if you are doing a fall theme then maybe a leaf on them or a heart on them.

yeah the umbrella's with someone elses names would be too much lol.
FOr e-party i did do cupcakes, i put them each in a box and also gave wine with it. Even on the wine bottles i didnt do our names or anything. I left the original label on, and just put them in organza bags with pink and brown plaid ribbon. Everyone kept asking me why im not gonna put names on it. I said bc they will get more use out of it. I dont drink wine but wouldnt mind it as a favor. When i have ppl over i can just use the wine, but i am not gonna whip out a bottle and put it on the table when having guests over and showing 'HEY this is the wine i got as a favor at a wedding' so figure it would work better this way. They can even give it as a gift to others and would be easy to do so lol.
I think shot glasses are good for the younger crowd but i would worry about the older crowd. Would it be something they ever use or want

i dont do shots at home lol but i do use a shot glass. When i make myself martini's, cosmo's, margarita's and those type of drinks, i do use a shot glass to measure the vodka. Usually it says to use 1 shot glass of vodka and pour into the shaker, or do a shot glass and a half. SO yeah i only use mine at home for when i need to measure it in another drink.
But there are ppl who collect them and keep them out somewhere so i guess depends.

I know this may not be the best idea, but what about a small coffee cup to go with the cupcake...
I went to a wedding where they gave shot glasses and some loved it and others hated it. . but I agree with the girls who say no names. . you could put something on it like a word or phrase to tie it into the cupcake like 'Love is sweet' or something. I know that phrase isn't great but as an idea. .. but I think the cupcakes is enough. ..
