Exactly, I'm the same way. We did a Sunday night for the price. Most of our guests are out of town, the only people who are local are my parents, but everyone is making travel plans to be there!

How about a Friday night wedding or Sunday afternoon wedding? Because of the season the prices are definitely higher than average. You can also do a cocktail party and have several different stations instead of a full sit down dinner if that's something that will work for you and your fiance.
This! Also cut the extras out too! No vienesse hr, extra upgrades, simple DJ package etc....

I recently attended a wedding on a Thursday night, but according to the bride, the prices are close to Sunday weddings, bc Thursdays are becoming more popular. I feel like you should do it whatever day you want to, the people who really want to celebrate with you will make it work regardless of what day it's on.
Hope this helps!

This!! A co-worker of mine was in the same boat and she found it WAY cheaper to do it the weekend of Memorial Day on that Sunday and she is doing a cocktail menu only, not a formal sit down. I don't see the problem with that, I find that most people eat the majority at the cocktail hour anyway!!
Best of luck!

That's actually not necessarily true about a July 4th wedding. I'm getting married on July 4th and I got a much better deal! It's a Thursday this year. We spoke to our family and most people will have off the following day, then still have the weekend to enjoy. Our minimum count was lower and the price/person was DEF lower!! Look around!! Have you looked at many places yet? Where would you like to have it? Check out FLOWERFIELD!!

I'm surprised because I looked at 12 venues and was told the same thing at each one (well except for one because I forgot to ask). Glad it worked out for you :)

I have a friend getting married july 4th weekend of this year at Lombardi's on the Sound and she got a GREAT deal. I think she's getting married on the 5th... which is a friday.
So maybe next year July 3rd or 4th won't be too expensive.
Also look into Sunset Harbour in Patchogue! They have a beautiful space!!!

Flowerfield has a beautiful outdoor area for a ceremony and they told me you can have your cocktail hour outdoors too. I got Thursday 7/4 for close to $100 p/p less than a standard Saturday night summer wedding!!!!! I nearly fell off my feet when I was able to work my way down to a great price. Flowerfield is notorious for having outrageously high prices and minimums and my event planner there was the one who suggested my date due to being able to give me SUCH a break!!

I would attend a weekday wedding but I work alot of weekends for my job so I wouldn't be much of as an inconvenience. Since you cant change the season I say thurs or fri night, weekend afternoon or a holiday (we almostd did Columbus day its a monday but most people are off) its almpat a sunday. Do you have a lot of extras? Maybe have it at a less expensive venue? Best way is too cut the guest list unfortunately. Unless you cut on vendors (less flowers, 1 photographer, no video and a lot pf DIY!) HTH good luck!

I just got married about four months ago on a Thursday. I was so happy with this decision for so many reasons. Here are a few:
1. The people who are important will be there no matter what and the day that the wedding is occurring will not even matter. They can just make it a long weekend. I attended my cousins wedding at the Royalton on a Wednesday. I must say that it was the best Wednesday of my life.lol. I just made that a long week and went on a trip the next day. 2. I saved about $40 per person. It adds up when you have over 200 guest 3. Booking on a Thursday, you likely will not have to share the venue with other brides. I got lucky and it was great to know that it was exclusively for us. At my sister’s wedding at Crest Hollow on a Sunday, there were about 4-5 events going on. When the best man and MOH were giving their speeches the music from the next room was so loud we could barely hear them. I don’t even want to mention what else went wrong that day. 4. Some of those guests that you didn’t want to invite in the first place may not be able to make it. #shrugs 5. I had a little more bargaining power with my vendors. Most of them are likely don’t have anything booked and will gladly give you a reasonable deal.
Its not the end of the world. At the end of the day, it is you and your fiancés decision. Do what makes you happy and fits the budget. Do not keep others opinions in mind. Its your day!

last year I attended a weeknight wedding. Our wedding is a Sunday night. FH is in the FDNY so is his father and a lot of the people who are invited to our wedding... they don't work regular monday through friday schedules so it's all the same thing to them... i think it depends on your situation. if your closest friends and family don't have a problem with a weeknight then I say go for it. I kind of liked taking off of work the next day and having a random day off. If it's going to be an issue for people who are very close to you maybe it's not a good idea then.

I would also try for Fri/Sun. Other things: don't bother with favors, half of them get left behind anyway. Cut down on menu options--take out a beef entree and offer chicken and fish, and ask them to reduce cost per person for having less expensive dinner options.
