I currently live and work in Washington, DC. Thus, I have spent the entire engagement/wedding planning process in DC.
Ever vendor was made aware of this prior to booking.
I am currently trying to arrange to take our engagement photos and am having the worst time arranging hair/makeup/photographer's appointments. In addition to the fact that, FH works every other weekend, and oh yeah, I have to travel to even be in NY!!
So, first date, May 23rd fell thru. Now photographer has a very limited number of days for Saturday/Sunday, actually only one Saturday about a week before the weekend.
Makeup person is refusing to work on a Sunday!!! Refusing. I'm shocked. Business must be too good for her.
Hair person is a doll and I think will be the least stressed but then again I may be overestimating for now.
So, here is the question: I currently have a Sunday in July with photo session out east, makeup person refusing to do trial that day:
Assuming hair person can work that day, do I go with another make up person for the e-shoot? (and who?)
Or take a day off of work (which I do not have the time and cannot really afford) and go with a friday? (Assuming everyone's schedule works, including FH?)
Desperately seeking opinions and advice. Thanks!

what about getting your make up done at a mac counter in the mall?
that's what i always do, and it always comes out great for pics

def don't take a day off from work for it ...
honestly, if it were me, i'd scrap the e-pics idea and ask the photographer for a discount since i won't be doing that. if you really want epics, you should take them locally, IMO.
ps: that's crazy that your makeup person refused to work on a sunday!

Thanks for the idea. That would be good for e-shoot, but then I won't have a trial with the makeup artist. Would you still use that person for wedding day?

I did this for my epics and it came out awesome...just buy the lipstick or something and you're set.

Makeup at the Mac counter is great.
I would also have SERIOUS reservations about using the M/U person for the wedding.
She could have said: 'sorry....' ~Its a day of rest and I cant ~Sundays are just not possible ~im never in town on sundays, its a family day. ~I take that day off due to heavy schedule....
She could have said something other than being a bish.

hmm, good question. i would PREFER a trial with the actual people who would be doing my hair & makeup on the day of ... but if it's too much trouble (it sounds like it might be for you), then i'd just get a trial done locally to see what i like and show a pic to the hair & makeup people in NY.

Just get another make up person for your epics. I really loved Andrea from Lolalovesmakeup and Jacqueline NIcole from www.prettyme.com

See if your hair person does make-up a lot of them do. if not FM me I'll give you the name and number to make make-up person... she's part of the Glam Squad.. my cousins and her friends came up with it to do on the weekends instead of working at there salon. She's really good and will work on a Sunday.

I just used Andrea of Lola Loves Makeup and she is a doll!!! I got married last Sunday and looked amazing. My new hubby even called to tell her how beautiful I looked. If it was me I would go with someone else.....just don't get a good vibe from who you setup with. :)
