Opinions needed on this crazy idea I just had. UPdated. Scroll to bottom

Okay, so if you remember my frustrations about hair from a while back I may have found a solution...

Here is what the salon I am booked with is charging.
125$ my hair
75$ each for makeup, me and my sister
85$ each for Bm hair

80$ for my hair trial
50$ for my makeup trail

I know that these prices are normal. BUT I am broke. I have not had a trial with the salon yet.

So when I was at Tri-County, I was walking back to my car and I wandered past Brittany Beauty school and on a whim I walked in.

I met the nicest girl there. She told me that they do updo for brides 25$ each for the trial and the day of. She told me they have some girls there that do beautiful updo's for weddings. The only snag might be is that you are not supposed to be able to request your sylist, but the girl said I would probably be able to get the same person again because it is for my wedding. (obviously I would have to find out the real deal about this, this could wreck the whole plan)

So then I asked about Makeup. The girl pulled me aside and said that she used to work for MAC and does make up now through and independent contract company (or something like that, don't know what she really said). She does weddings. She would come to my house and charge 100$ for me and $50 for my sister (basically the same cost as the salon I am booked with) HOWEVER, she would come to my house and do a free trial...

So, For 25$ do you think it is worth going for a trial and seeing what they are all about? If they suck I am only out 25$. My mom said she would like to get one too.

I would do the trial then decide.

It very well may work out in your favor! But explore it a little first...

I would give it a shot...it is always in bargain books as a recommendation to save $

Alot of the girls that are in Beauty school already work at professional salons and do beauty school at night to get their license. My friend has been working in a salon for 5 years and would do stuff like this at beauty school all the time!!! They usually do a really good job esp. b/c they are being graded on it and have teachers watching what they do!

Go for it....if you absolutely hate it youve only invested 25 bucks on it! And who knows, maybe it will be the best thing ever Cant hurt to try.

She did weddings ALL the time on the weekends at the salon charging $$$$$$ and then would do it at the beauty school for practically nothing!!!

She really didn't mind though b/c since they were getting charged so little the people who would come to her beauty school would tip more then the people at the salon.

Whenever I used to go visit her she had 'regulars' that would come to the beauty school for haircuts, perms, highlights, you name it. The prices they charge are a bargin!

It's not in Tri-County flea market, It is just in the same parking lot. Sorry I wasn't clear in the post, I fixed it
It is on the north side of hempstead tpk in Levittown. If you are traveling west It is after Old Navy.

Okay.. So now I call them and the girl that answers says that stylists are only enrolled in school for 3 months. SO I would probably not get the same girl for the wedding. She also says that since it is school they don't really have a dedication to coming in so they may just not show up one day because they are sick or something. But They did put me in touch with another salon. It is in east Meadow It's called New york haircutters. She says it a small salon, kind of like a little 'village' hippy salon. They do Makeup and hair 50 $ each, 25$ each trial. The girl that I talked to is the 'head bridal' girl. She worked at MAC and sounded like she knew her stuff. She was talking about colors and stuff with me. She Said that the day of, since my sister and I are having my make-up done, I have any 'make-up challenged' friends or someone who is like 'Retarted with blush'.. ( I love that, so my style) They would go over and help them with makeup and what not .. NO CHARGE. She just sounded soo nice.

So I have a trail booked for Sunday, so does my mom. So excited. I will let you all know how it went.
