So as I have looked at like 15 different reception halls, it is very expensive. So I am considering having a January wedding since the price is like half. The FH thinks its way to cold and is not going to be nice.
Any opinions? Any brides getting married or have gotten married in January?
Thanks!

Winter weddings are beautiful!
There are a ton of girls on here who had winter weddings! You will mostly get a break from most vendors and have a wonderful wedding. GL!

Re: Opinions needed on Winter Wedding
we're getting married dec 5 - its more expensive than jan - march but still less than the late spring/early summer/early fall - we are also doing a friday to save money - one of our ideas was actually a holiday wedding so it worked out for us...
as far as weather - it could be really really cold or it could be 50 degrees - its a chance im willing to take considering we arent going to be outside for anything - im one of the few brides who doesnt care what the forecast is for their wedding day (as long as no snow storm ) and im glad i dont have to worry about that - we had our eparty outdoors in september and i was a wreck about it - we ended up getting a chilly day for september - not the worst weather but it wasnt great either - there was no way i could deal with that for my wedding, especially if i booked a place because i wanted an outdoor ceremony and CH - i would freak! my FH is happy about having a december wedding b/c he will be wearing a tux and he HATES wearing a tux in the summer or when its hot out....the halls are usually decorated nicely for the holidays which is a nice touch....like i said for us it worked out - i would also have loved to have a beach wedding but i just didnt have the guts to do it - i couldnt imagine spending all this money and then my outdoor vision being ruined because of bad weather - just something to think about....

Re: Opinions needed on Winter Wedding
I'm a fan of winter weddings We wanted ours in the Fall or Winter and since we both love the Holiday's we went with 12/27. My pricing is probably the same as a Jan. bride's would be.
Winters in NY have not been what they used to be 10-20 yers ago. this past Dec. wasn't bad weather-wise at all. Even if it snowed it would give you wonderful pics. We chose our location know that we weren't going to need a place with beautiful gardens.
Defintely look into a winter wedding...I think many girls here who have had winter weddings would rave about the time of year they picked

Re: Opinions needed on Winter Wedding
I would definitely recommend a winter wedding! I got married this past New Year’s Eve. It was a little cold but by no means freezing. I was even able to take some pictures outside.
I am a February bride and cant IMAGINE having a summer wedding cause I always wanted a winter wonderland! All the halls I got quotes from were literally HALF the price anyway so it's a great deal. One thing I would recommend is wedding insurance. It is really cheap yet will cover your entire wedding expenses should you have to cancel due to bad weather...

Re: Opinions needed on Winter Wedding
The weather in January this year was actually really nice. We originally planned on January but didn't feel like we'd have enough time to get our shiit together so we went 2 months later to March.

I am doing a winter wedding! I got $35/pp off my RH price over the 'regular' price.

Re: Opinions needed on Winter Wedding
I'm getting married January 3rd and I wouldn't change my date for anything. My hall will still be decorated for Christmas and I got a steal on my price pp. As far as weather goes, you never know with the winters here anymore. We had 50 degrees in the beginning of this past January.

Save the money have it in January, the only thing you don't get is an outside CH, which you may not get if it rains anyway!

I got married in December and it was COLD as hell that day but no one cared. It was a fantastic day and you can have the wedding of your dreams this way and save money as well. I loved getting married in the winter, my guests all said it was a treat because they go to so many in the summer and mine was the only one for months. JMO love them!! Good Luck to you

Re: Opinions needed on Winter Wedding
I'm having a January wedding and I'm really excited for it.
I refused to have a wedding in the summer because I hate sweating and I can't handle the heat so I wanted to go for a cooler season. October wasn't going to work with our schedule so we went for January. I'm glad we did because we got an AMAZING RH for such a cheap price. I've gotten some good prices for a few other vendors because of that too.
Plus I'm excited about the cold weather (I'm definitely a fan of winter). Although with the weather we've been having the last 4-5 years in January, it will end up being around 70 degrees!

Winter Weddings can be BEAUTIFUL!!! I would have considered one but I really can't deal with the cold..I'm the girl you see with a sweatshirt on in the summer once the sun goes down! lolz
If you really wanted a spring/summer wedding, would you consider a Thurs night? FH and I are on a budget, and we ended up booking a Thurs, it's def. more budget-friendly!

Re: Opinions needed on Winter Wedding
Would you consider looking at MARCH- its still the winter but its much warmer, you even have a chance at spring weather. When we were looking, we got price quotes for March and they werent bad at all (for example, Fox Hollow wanted 55 pp on a sat. afternoon in march/ Chateau Briand wanted 64 pp for a sat afternoon in march).

Re: Opinions needed on Winter Wedding
I always wanted a winter wedding and even thought it was cold out, it was still wonderful and everything I dreamed of. I don't think weather can make or break an event- just like it it rains on your day-- does it make it any less beautiful? And honestly, how much time does your FH plan on being outside at his own wedding?
