Opinions needed, please: Cruise vs All-inclusive Resort for honeymoon

Original post by Annoulak

Just wondering what you think about a cruise vs. an all-inclusive resort for the honeymoon.

It doesn't matter where or what company, assume they will be in the same area with comparable room accomodations. And assume there is no other option.

Thought please.

FH and I are doing the Royal Caribbean Mediterranean cruise. It all depends on what type of honeymoon you guys want. If you want to relax and not lift a finger go for the all-inclusive, but if you guys want to see different places, do exciting things then do the cruise. We are also spending a little more money towards our honeymoon because we FH and I know we probably won't be able to do another huge trip like this for a long time.

One of the cons that FH brought up was there will be more people on a cruise that you see everyday, whereas at a resort you can avoid them more...i agree with him, but just wondering if that's true

I would say all inclusive....I cruises but I love all inclusives more because there just are no worries! FH has trouble with cruises because at the end of your trip you get a huge bill with all your drinks adn excursions on it. with all inclusive you just sit back, relax and enjoy!

to me it depends on the location. for our HM i'm doing a mediterranean cruise because I wanted to see a few different places and I think the cruise is the easiest way to do that. An all inclusive you'd be in one spot the whole time, so it's very different and depends on what you are doing.

i agree, we are 'movers' and wanted to have plenty to do....going on a carribean cruise.

I voted for all- inclusive because I am not a cruise person , i prefer to lay my fat arse on a beach , drink and relax then be on a ship or sightsee for my honeymoon .

we loved our cruise, i was willing to do a cruise for our honeymoon but FH wanted an AI resort this time so we could have a nicer room, be more relaxing, alcohol and activities included, and spend more time exploring the island

ditto

I choose the all inclusive. I did the cruise last October and didn't get sick on the cruise, but you can. Also. I got sick after I got home. I felt it for about 2 days afterwards.

ive done both and its all going to depend on what type of honeymoon you are looking for

and with the AI-since i dont know the location dont know which one to answer. The reason why is because for me personally that would make a big difference. If its an AI on an island where there is not much to do and not alot of activities then I'd go with a cruise, but then again i am also looking for a HM with a nightlife, with activities and lots of things to see. If its an AI-on an island where there are lots of things to do then i'd go with that. I dont just like laying by the beach or pool, after 30mins-1hr im moving around and looking for something to do. ALSO some islands its very very very hard to take the sun. Ive been here in ny to the beaches when it was over 100 degrees and i was able to take it, yes hot but i resisted. I went to the bahamas and i laid out, let me say that within 15 mins i felt like my skin was on fire and didnt lay out the rest of the trip, and most ppl say this.

I am trying to compare my experiences with both and I think I had more fun on the cruise, but it could've also been who i went with and that just being my own personal experience. At night though on the cruise definitely had more to do. And again all depends on which places you would go to so without locations of either it is hard to choose.

We're thinking Puerto Vallarta, and there are activities both in the hotel and outside the hotel. FH and I aren't big on nightlife, but from what I understand there is some nightlife in PV and also at the resort we're looking at

That is one of our concerns actually...FH's cousin said she could feel the boat moving when she was on a cruise, especially when she was rock climbing and ice skating on the boat...
