opinions on DJ package options??? (more info added)

So Im sending our contract and deposit to our DJ today to officially book and I need some advice on the options...

for dj lighting, I was thinking of doing the basic 2-5 lights on a t-bar bc its the most reasonable package and I figured the actual music matters more than their lights? But there is a 10 ft truss option with 5-10 basic lights that is above the basic package...do you think its worth it if its like $300 more? I was leaning towards the basic but was curious about those of you who know more about this.

also, would you pay an extra $300 for a dvd slide show (<50 photos).

I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of the truss being used at weddings because then it looks like a concert setup etc. We're having something like 4 intelligent lights (the upgraded package) but they're being set up on columns so that makes it look better.

I would go with the less expensive option in your case. HTH!

i'd say no to the DJ slideshow...but yes to the extra lights. we got the intelligent lighting that moves in time with the music (on top of perimeter lighting) but i have to say that the lighting with the music creates a better party atmosphere!


ETA:: oh wait...i just realized its a TRUSS not intelligent lighting...hmm....like the poster above me just said...sometimes it looks a little odd. if it seems like too much....i would maybe skip it. do they offer intelligent lighting?

k, so they do offer and suggest intelligent lighting but the package price goes up dramatically!!! and its with the 10 ft truss...i hear some good things about intelligent lighting which i guess changes depending on beat of music?? but i dont know that its worth it to us for the price. is it all that great??

essentially the options are:
-basic lighting- 2-5 lights on t bar
-or 10 ft truss w/ 5-10 basic lights (goes up 300 from basic)
-or 10 ft truss w/ intelligent lighting (goes up 700 from basic)

and the add ons are: (300 additional for each)
-dvd music videos on 6X8 ft screen (i dunno what this is)
-digital pics taken and viewed at affair (he suggests this but i dont think its worth it)
-dvd slideshow <50 pics prepared prior to event


...glad to hear its not a big deal if i dont go w/ the truss! other places to spend some money.
