I'd prefer a sunday
Went to a wedding on Thurs evening out east, so I had to take a half day on thursday so I can get ready and make it on time and then take off on Friday.
With Sunday, you can start and end earlier so no one needs to take off from work if its close enough
I second Sunday! Perhaps you can even do like a 4pm ceremony and then like a 6pm reception? That way your affair ends @ 10pm which isn't too late if guests have to work the next day.
This is exactly what I'm doing! Anyone who lives nearby will be able to get home and be in bed by 11PM or so. Sunday is good because there's no stress about getting there during the day. Also, when I was getting quotes, I found that daytime weddings could save you a TON. Larkfield Manor, for example, would have let me get married on a Saturday afternoon for $60 pp. Daytime or a Sunday could give you almost as much of a discount as a Thursday.
If it's the same price sunday or thursday, I say go with sunday :)

Re: Opinion's on Thursday night weddings????
I went to a friend's wedding on a thurs but it was extremely low key (not a lot of people drinking or dancing) because everyone had to go to work the next day..as a guest, it kinda stinks but that being said, it's your day and you do what you want!

I would go to any real close friend's wedding on any day.
Agreed!

If you must do a thursday, try and do it on a thursday before people have off on Friday (Good Friday, before memorial day). Honestly, as a guest, it would suck big time. But, if it were for a BFF, I'd be there.
Good idea or the 4th of July like I'm doing. Most people will be off that day and the day after

I agree, a couple girls on here are getting married on a Tuesday, July 3rd, and most everyone has off the next day, so its basically like a friday.
July 3rd is a good idea also

Re: Opinion's on Thursday night weddings????
If its between a Thursday and a Sunday I would def suggest a Sunday. I went to one on a Tuesday once and couldn't make the ceremony. The reception was just weird bc everyone was worn out from working all day. At least the majority of people are off Sunday. Waiting until 2014 to save money is another option.

I think you need to do what's best for you and your FH's budget. FH's friends had their wedding on Thanksgiving Eve (Wed night before Thanksgiving) and had close to 300ppl at their wedding. It was a huge party on the biggest party night of the year!

Re: Opinion's on Thursday night weddings????
I am having my wedding on a Wednesday night but it is the day before 4th of July. I know I am going to loose alot of people at the ceremony (having it at reception hall) but it was worth it.
