Opinions please...

Opinions please...

Please forgive me if this is a dumb question, my brain is on overload.... If my house & church are in Kings Park (LIE exit 53, then north) and my reception in Bellport (LIE exit 64, then south) with not much time in between my ceremony & reception (Sunday, by the way).... where would you block hotel rooms?

near exit 53? near exit 64? Both? or somewhere in the middle nearer to Islip airport?

Some background info causing my confusion is that I have people coming from 5 other states, some of which may want to see my family more than just day of wedding so I was thinking nearer to my house for their convenience. Flip side, if people dont want to drive far afterwards, they may want a hotel nearer to the reception .. So is it normal to block at 2 hotels? or go for just 1 in the middle?

Maybe you should block at 2 hotels; one near the church and one near the RH. That way people can choose where they want to stay.

I would do near the RH because not everyone goes to the church.

I would do near the RH b/c it's nicer to go a short distance at the end of the night...for the ceremony, ah well...and also Mici is right, not everyone will go to the church. We do have 2 hotels blocked b/c one wouldn't give us enough rooms (we have lots of OOT too), but they are across the street from each other

Re: Opinions please...

I am having my reception at Bellport CC and I have blocked rooms at Hampton Inn Exit 63. It kinda ***** because there is nothing really close to RH and my church is like 5 mi from hall. But If church is in Kings Park ....either Holiday Inn by airport/Hampton Inn/Residence Inn by Island16 but they won't block rooms.

Good Luck!

Re: Opinions please...

How will they be getting around? Are they renting cars (driving themselves) or taking cabs/you're taking care of transportation?

If they're driving I'd book near RH (tired, drinking, etc), but if they're not driving then I'd do it in between both places.

I would block near the RH so that people dont have to drive far afterwards. You could block at a 2nd hotel - lots of people do 2.

Also - if you trying to block near your RH - good luck - i had so much trouble with all the nearby hotels. I chose the Hilton Garden Inn - Bohemia - they have the best people there and gave us the best deal. FM if you want details.

We had the same problem but everyone says that they would rather stay near the RH so we only blocked rooms out there, maybe ask everyone what they think
