My FH and I are going to have quite a bit of OOT guests (mostly his family...from the west coast). We both really want an evening wedding and were originally looking into Thurs night.
Do you think it would be better to have a Sunday night wedding!!? We were looking at holiday weekends of course, Labor Day, Columbus Day....if possible, financially or otherwise.
Not sure which day of the week his family would most likely be able to get to....
TIA!

Re: opinions please
A Thursday night would force them in to leaving the west coast on Wednesday, if not before. I'd suggest that if Fri/Sat are out of the running, you stick with Sunday night. That way, people can fly back on Monday, if they want, and don't have to take as much time off from work.

similar situation... most of our guest list includes OOT guests.
we're doing a sunday night (not on a holiday weekend). it look like we're having a 65% rate of acceptance. if you do a sunday night on a holiday weekend, you should be fine! :)

You should be fine on a sunday...but remember that traveling on a holiday weekend...the airfare prices are going to be much much higher than a regular weekend.

i was just thinking that ...
ETA: but if the choices are Friday night or Sunday night, i'd go for the Sunday so guests don't need to take TOO much time off.

You would have to let them know at least a year in advance. As a teacher who can only travel during holidays...it gets to be very expensive...to the point if I don't plan far ahead it's just too expensive to go. Kids off of school = airlines fav time of the year!

Agreed....but remember that the people who truly matter to you will do everything they can to be there!

Re: opinions please
How about Friday??? Friday is ideal. Sunday is 2nd best, because then they only have to take monday off, but Thursday is totally inconvenient. JMHO.

I agree - thursday seems a little strange. even if the wedding is loca,l, i would have a lot of rearranging on my schedule to do!
