Opinions please.. something wedding related yay! lol
Okay, so I recently heard from three different people, who have been to Swan Club weddings before, that the food isn't the same anymore.. Even my cousin who's daughter was married there said there was a big difference between Tammy's wedding two years ago and our other cousin, David's wedding this past summer....sooo now I'm questioning myself, because honestly, when I went for the food tasting, I wasn't 100% impressed but FH who is usually pickier than me liked it, so at the time since I loved the property I went with it..
Now there is another hall I never went to see because I sorta rushed with the Swan Club, a hall i heard alot of good things about, so here are my questions..
1) Should I go see the new hall?
2) How do I go about getting out of the Swan Club contract, if I decide to do so.
I guess I am worried about losing the $1000 deposit.. in the scheme of things it doesnt seem like alot but it is my parents money and I can't do that to them, especially since they have been very generous to me in other ways over the last few months..
Anyway what do you all think?
~Confused
P.S. Update on me, I'm feeling alittle stronger everyday..thank you all for checking on me.. getting your notes really helps keep the spirits up, I actually felt like a normal person yesterday, I went for a ride in the car with FH and went to the bank to make a deposit in the ATM.. by the time we got back I was exhausted of course but it was nice to get out

Ok, first of all - HORRAY!!! that you're feeling well!!!!!!
As far as the Swan Club vs. Unamed Hall debate goes, I would at least check out the other hall. You may not like it any better than what you have and then the point is moot. If you do like it better, is it possible that you can cite your health issues as the reason to get out of the Swan Club contract? I know you said you'd probably have to change the date again so maybe as long as there's a certain number of months between your Swan Club booking and when you would actually get married at Unnamed Hall, you may be ok. If not, you'll have to decide if it's worth losing the deposit or not.

Well the new tentative date would be May 21, 2006, so it would be well over a year...I'm having someone call the new hall to see what the rates are and if it's even available...

My holiday party for work was at the Swan Club. My HS reunion was there a year earlier.
FH and I both liked the food. Food is subjective. Anywhere you go, someone will love it and someone will hate it.
The Swan Club has amazing grounds and nice ambiance. Don't let other people's opinions change your mind.
This is YOUR wedding. It isn't about the food, it is about the marriage. Do what you want. I like the Swan Club and wouldn't switch if it were me.

I agree. Food is food. The Swan Club is a wonderful place to have a wedding. Your photos will be amazing and they know what they are doing. I say stick with the Swan Club (PS, I may be biased because I too am getting married there!!!)

Hi fellow swannie! I haven't gone to a tasting there yet but I've heard great things about the food, service, and grounds. Perhaps you should voice your concerns with your banquet manager about your food tasting...maybe try some other dishes.
I'd check the other hall out too just to kill the curiosity. Best of luck!

Jen Im so glad u are doing better. People are picky you cant please everyone. I thought the chicken was good (the one bite I had) but my best friend didn't like it. Don't stress remember you picked it cause u liked it.

it's so hard to remain confident when people tell you bad things..i wonder why they do that? when they know you have a contract, feelings, worries, etc.
You liked it when you signed...even if the food was just OK...maybe go to the other place to ease your mind and also go back to swan club...remember what it was you loved about it in the first place...
glad you're feeling better

If you're worrying, it definetly can't hurt to check out the other hall... I'm sure if you did change your mind that your parents would understand! If you don't go you may always wonder if you should have. If you do go, at least you can say you did try...
I'm SO glad to hear you're up and feeling better!!!

As someone who agonized over changing photographers I say it can't hurt to visit the other hall. Do sleep on your decision though. After weeks of second guessing my original photographer I finally met with another, just listened to my gut and feel so much more relaxed that my photography is going to be great.
Definitely go, compare and sleep a few days on it. Your gut will tell you what to do.
