Don''t get stressed now, plenty of time for that. there was a similar post recently by brianna (freaking out) with somewhat the same situation, do a search to find the post and thread. personally, i would not want to book a place that i didn''t love and the catering managers were playing the role of a car salesman. depending on the place the mininum and price range can range tremendously, but the price and minimum for a particular place let''s say 'lands end' should not vary a great deal depending on the person booking. they usually have a set rate and don''t seem to budge very much. by law, you should be able to recieve your deposit back w/in 48 hours. you left money to hold the date not officially commit to booking. any reputable place should refund you the money in a reasonable amount of time. call them back, explain that you jumped into things and want to look around and ask for your deposit back. if you want to save money book w/in 6 months of the date if you are open to time of year and day of the week. i would not want the pressure of this because many places do book up fast, but my friend got engaged in january and booked the okehka castle for july and got an excellent deal (there was a cancellation and the date happened to be open.) i wouldn''t necessarily suggest this, but it is an option. good luck and keep us posted!
