Oprah

Just wondering cause FH and I were talking about it this morning. I dont watch Oprah, but will watch her rerun at night if she has something interesting on. Yesterday (I think) she had that woman that had her face mauled by the chimp on. She also showed the womens face! How awful!! FH saw it on You Tube and told me not to look at it cause it is soooo disturbing. Anyway..I have to say that these people that keep these type of animals as pets are crazy. You really cant blame the animal cause he was acting as he would in his natural enviroment. Sad story.

I couldn't watch it. I saw a little mood on Good Morning America the next day but that was it. I feel bad for her because she was just being a good friend trying to help another friend.

Yes, I feel badly for her too because she was just trying to help her friend. I dont even think I would want to continue living like that. But, I think she has a teenage daughter so I am sure that helps her will to live.

I agree with the other girls...it is really disturbing to see her and it's so awful what happened to her ...I hope she is able to get a face implant so she wont need to wear that veil

Re: Oprah

I was going to listen to it and have FH tell me if I would be able to watch it (I get extremely upset with some stories, probably too emotinally attached to them). He told me that he wishes he didn't see her face, it was that upsetting. I can't imagine living like that where people are upset to see your face...does anyone know if she still keeps in touch with the friend she was trying to help out?

I understand they were friends..but maybe if I was in that situation, I would sue also..after all, this woman is going to need special care the rest of her life. I dont think she really has a choice except to sue.

Truely upsetting. There's a reason why certain animals are called 'wild animals'. The chimp's owner treated him like a human...sleeping with him, bathing with him, giving him pills and alcohol...all of which most likely messed with his psyche and added to his ability and motive to attack her friend.

I've heard that she is a candidate for a face transplant, though she's not able to actually get one yet. Who knows; the lady in France who had a face transplant seemed to do well the last time she spoke with the media. Maybe things will work out the best they can for Charla Nash.

can you imagine her medical bills? she drove a tow truck for her friend, so i would imagine her health insurance wouldn't be that great if she even had it. but like you said she needs care for the rest of her life....and she needs to provide for her daughter!

Re: Oprah

Oh my God!!! I just went on the Oprah site because I wanted to read about her interview, I saw they had a link to see her face WHICH I DID NOT GO TO...so I was reading the story and went to the second or third page and I saw her face, by accident. My God...I am still shaking! I really didnt want to see that.
She did say, from what I started to read that the chimp was always 'scary' to her, and that one time she went over there and the chimp was jumping around outside and ran up to her and jumped on her back and ripped out a huge chunk of her hair in the back. And the owner only LAUGHED!! Maybe now I do blame this lady, the owner.
Anyway..if you do not want to see the pic..make sure you do not go on Oprahs site.

Yeah, I don't know if they actually do full eye transplants...isn't it just the corneas? Not sure.

This poor woman.
