I actually just chose happiness over money. I got laid off in Jan and had to take an $7K less paying job and I'm so glad I did. I now have a career that I'm thrilled to be in vs a job I was miserable at.

It depends.
I actually did this, I was making about 10K over what I make now. It was terrible in every single way imaginable. The boss was as wacked out as they come, he was rude, unprofessional, and God knows what else on top of it. But the work I was doing also didnt interest me. The hours I had to sometimes work were not good. So with all that, I quit and knew I would most likely not make as much money at the next job which I am not.
however, if it was only a portion of the job that I hated (boss, work, hours, etc.), I might be able to stick it out for a while or even for longer depending on how good the money actually was.

Money does not buy happiness. I would not want to be miserable. I rather make less but be happy.

lol, well yeah i agree thats obvious... survival is different than happiness though... no one is going to take a job they can survive on

I don't think money can buy happiness. In answer to your question - the way you phrased it and said 'get a job you can tolerate', I would say then I wouldn't leave my current job. Leaving a job you hate to one that you can tolerate won't necessarily make you happy either. If you said leave a job you hate and get one that you love and are passionate about, then I would say YES.

yes, i live this... i don;t make a lot of money, but as long as we continue to be okay both FH and I are ok with a little less money in exchange for liking my jpb
