I like oranges, I really do, but I don't eat them very often because they're such a pain to eat. My parents are down in Florida for a couple of months getting some R&R and they were nice enough to send me and DH a box of oranges. So I bring one of them in to work today and I'm ready to eat it, but I forgot to bring a knife. So I try to peel it with my hands. No good. Then I get a plastic knife from the kitchenette. No good. This damn orange just doesn't want to part with its peel. I finally managed to get some of the sections free but not until after I'd totally massacred most of the orange, got sitcky juice everywhere, oh and I found out the hard way that I have a paper cut Stupid fruit.

okay, first of all... the pronounciation blew my mind! I was think Grapple...like Apple or Scrapple (the non-meat meat!). But GRAPE-L!? That's so meta!

and that's so true about Grapples existing because THEY CAN! It's like the square watermelon or Paris Hilton. No logical use, but existence anyway!
I'm sorry, that was wrong. There is a use for square watermelons... easier storage.

I hate peeling oranges, my fingers smell all day and I definently hate seeds.

I have teh same peeve with oranges.
And I must said, I did say something squicked me before when I was talking to myself in my head as I often do, but neither I or myself recall what the context was.
I feel that way about pineapples. They are so good but how the heck do you cut them up? You need to work out at the gym to have the strength to cut them in half.
