seriously, don't sweat it. if i had a dollar for everytime i got a wedding related dress that wasn't 80 times bigger than my street size, i'd be a millionaire! for some reason, the sizing is really weird. bridal dresses are usually twice the size of your normal size i'm usually a size 5/6 or 7/8 and my dress was a 14. the first time that happened to me, i started crying. but this happens to everyone. and trust me, when ur dress comes in, it'll fall right off. i had a bridesmaid dress that was strapless and i put it on for my fitting and it slid right off. so that made me feel better. cheer up girl, the dress will look gorgeous on you!

I dunno why bridal companies do this... the sizes are soo off. It frustrates me cuz then if it makes brides believe that they are bigger than they are and they start dieting. Please dont be upset.... they are just nutso in the drss co. Oh and many times the stores order the dresses bigger than u need so they can bang u out on alterations

I guess I was lucky I wear a 12 and my dress is a 12 and it needs to be taken up a little so maybe I lost weight.

That to me makes no sense at all. I am a reg. size 11/12 and my dress is a 14...go figure that one out. Maybe its the designer..but a 22!!!! omg!
ETA: Rememeber Nicole, that it is always easier to make a dress smaller than larger...so I dont think there will be a prob with her having to alter the dress to a smaller size

I just wanted to add that you probably do not need a size 22 all over... they order the size that fits your biggest measurement.
So for example, if they measure you and based on the designer's chart your boobs need a size 14, your waist needs a size 22, and your hips need a size 18, they have to order you the 22 because they can take it in elsewhere, but usually can't take it out very much.

I wear a street size 4 and they ordered me a size 8 gown. That was the sample the had and I thought it was a bit big on me but they said go bigger rather than smaller!
ETA: I just so your dress in your album...it is GORGEOUS!

I wear a 4 street size and my dress is an 8.. and it fits perfectly, which worries me if I don't lose a few lbs!!!

OMG same with me!!! I am typically a size 8 AT MOST 10 and they ordered my a size 16 to be on 'the safe side' Seemed a bit ludicrous to me . My alterations are capped at 275 BUT I still feel that is a whole lot of material to have to remove !!!

i think on avergae it is about 2 sizes. I am an 8 and for both my sisters wedding (BM dress) and for my wedding gown i got a 12. and my sister was the same also. street size 6 got a 10.

Thats stinks. I'm a street size 9/10 and they ordered me a 14. Maybe I was lucky who knows. But don't worry, certain dresses run differently. You'll be fine And when I went for my fitting, they only had to take a few inches in. Go figure

i'm sure they know what they are doing, just ignore the size on the tag.
when i tried on mori lee dresses they told me that the dress sizes are really far off from 'real' sizes ...

wedding dress sizes have NOTHING TO DO with real life sizes..... THey are always much smaller. THey never updated the system from old times when people were smaller .....back in the stone ages. That number means nothing.

Hey Nic, don't feel sad! When I went for my dress, I am a regular 4 or 6 (I vary) and they ordered me a size 12. Wedding gowns run small. I was suprised myself when I had to go for my measurements. I believe all wedding gowns are like that. I just worry about the alterations and price. Where I got my dress from there is no cap on alterations!

I ordered only one size bigger than I normally wear, but my dress is demetrios and I have a courset back, so I can't speak for Mori Lee. That does sound iffy to me. I'd get measured by another place to make sure they're not trying to get the most alteration fees out of you. good luck!
