Ordering Bridal Party Dresses

This has probably been addressed before, but I when I do a search I cannot find a thread to read on this topic. How far in advance should bridesmaid's dresses be ordered? My wedding is in seven months and I was planning on going and looking at dresses towards the end of January and ordering the dresses early to mid February. I'm getting married in August. Is this enough time? Thanks!

I think that's fine. They don't take as long to come in or require as many fittings as a wedding gown.

Most bridal shops will tell you that a bridesmaid dress usually takes anywhere from 3-4 months to come in. Mine took 3 months to come in. They were ordered in Aug, came in Nov and they will go for their first fitting at the end of June.

My wedding is in June and we are going to order them next week so that would be 5 months in advance!

I know a few people who ordered them and they were in in about 2 months time!

I just picked the dress last night Jordan #505 Spring 2004 collection and my first BM went today to be measured. They said the first fitting will be in August for my Sept 25th wedding

We ordered our dresses 2 weeks before christmas- I am actaully still very nervous they wont be in on time. I swear you hear different answers from every place and everyone. I originally was going to wait until mid-january but got too antsy- And NOW all the beautiful spring dresses are out! Grr!

I am getting married one month after you and I am ordering my BM dresses on Saturday, January 24th. I could wait a bit longer but I am really anxious to move forward and I want to know what my color scheme is going to be!

We are getting married on the same day! My bridal shop said to order the BM dresses by the middle of February at the latest.

We ordered our dresses the week before thanksgiving and they said they would be in in early February. Well to my surprise they calle d me on Christmas eve to tell me they were in already. I was so surprised.

Thank you everyone for all of your posts. I'm going to look at dresses with two of my bridesmaids next weekend (two are in town the other two are out of town). I'm going to try and stick to dresses that can be found in almost anywhere in the US, so that everyone has an opportunity to try them on.
