Ordering Bridesmaid Dresses

Just wondering: when do you girls plan on ordering your bridesmaid dresses? and how will u pick the dress - are u taking one or two girls beforehand to try some on and narrow it down or are u taking all your girls at the same time?

I'm planning on taking my sister (MOH) and 1 bridesmaid to narrow down the choices and hopefully order them by December/Jan the latest.

depends on how many bm's you have...but start with 2 girls, bc once you get more than that...you have many opinions running around...have them try on dresses, or styles that they and you like, then narrow it down to a few, and then see what hte other girls say.

This is what I did:
We narrowed the dresses down to 3 by searching on the web. Then eventually narrowed it down to one.

My I went to Lillette's to try on dresses I brought FSIL with me and had her try on the dress everyone likes. She is the largest girl in the BP (she isn't even that big but I figured if she was fine with it everyone else would be). The dress looked great so that was it.

Now each girl needs to go in by labor day (that's the deadline I gave them) bc the dress can take up to 6 months to come in. I wanted them to have enough time to get alterations done once the dresses are in.

i've been looking online like crazy. I am trying to find what i like first. I've gone once by myself and then once with my sil to Jenny Yoo ( for her tea length dresses).
I recommend going with a few girls at a time b/c if you are not sure what dress you want, you will get five different opinions.

It gives the girls too much input b/c halter make look great on one girl and the other may prefer strappless...

I say narrow down what you like and then bring the girls to try on and see what looks good on them..

i tried narrowing it down but i keep changing my mind....i'm so fickle!

i plan on just bringing 2-3 girls with me and making them put on a fashion show :) i'll pick from there.

i'm planning on looking in august.

I am going to take my sister(MOH) and cousin, and then narrow down the dresses. I already have ONE that I love .. so if that looks good on everyone, then I will go with that. I plan on ordering in Jan also.

I looked online and then brought one person with me to try on everything that I thought I liked. Then we went through the racks and tried on some more. I narrowed it down to 3 different ones that I liked. Then I focused on the girls with the more difficult body types - that is how I got it down to one (I wanted it to look good on everyone).

my bridesmaids are all so different- one is 6'4'', one is 5', one is Korean, one is Mexican, one is Italian, one is Irish- there is no way I'm going to find a style that looks good on all of them! I'm telling them to go to David's bridal, and get a floor length black skirt, and any black top that is not strapless.

I'm probably going to go in January and take MOH and 1 BM with me and pick out like 2 or 3. Then I'll take my other 2 BM with me to narrow it down.

I'm actually getting to this point as well ... I've been throwing the idea around, but each of my 6 girls have different body types. I think I might just pick a designer and tell them to pick a black, floor-length, satin dress. It doesn't leave too much room for diversity, but they can decide if they want tight, loose, strapless, sleeves, etc ... I'm at the point where I just don't care enough to put all the work into finding 1 dress that fits 6 girls

I've been looking online myself... I plan on going to the stores myself this summer to narrow it down.. I'll probably bring 1-2 bridesmaids just to try some on & narrow it down to 3 at the most. Then I'll plan a 1 day outing where everyone gets fitted etc.

Santina I went in May with my two FSIL and my two sisters. We kind of narrowed it down - but it was hard b/c everyone liked different things. Then I went last night w/ two other BM and we found something completely different which I fell in love with. I didn't think it was going to be so hard to find a dress! But I finally found a beautiful one.

So now that I know the dress- I am trying to find a place that offers them cheaper (b/c they are a little $$$$ at Bridal Reflections). So overall it took me a few months to finding their dress. I plan on ordering them by the end of this summer.

I recently purchased my BM gowns- what i did was bring 3/4 girls (one couldnt make it) to davids and pick out seperates but I wasnt feeling how they looked on them and wanted all the girls to have one dress so I told them to look around and find dresses. My sister and her friend found this one dress and everyone liked it and it fit very nicely on all the girls so we decided on that

I took mybridesmaid and tried on dresses about 3-2 times. Then when I was ordering my dress for a friend's wedding we found my bridesmaid dress. I showed a pic to my other girls and they love it

for those of you get getting fed up because of the different shapes and such... try this as well.. i'm going with separates, the same skirt and i will have two different tops but you can go with all different if you want. this way you pick the skirt and they all pick which top they like best.. HTH
