For those of you who have purchased or ordered dresses from David's Bridal, what is the time frame they are giving you as to when the dress will arrive? There are two dress I love and want to try on but I'm afraid that if I love one and want to leave a deposit to order, it will come in too quickly and I'll be with a dress in my house for a year. I'm torn as to what to do.

They don't keep the dress there for you until your 1st fitting like other salons do?

If I remember correctly (my friend got married in 06)she had to take it home and bring it back when fitted. They told her they had no room to store dresses. This could have been just a random thing with that one in particular though.

This will most likely be the case. I ordered my dress at the end of March and I was told that it would be here in July. My dress actually came in the beginning of May so I have it at home; a little over a year before my wedding. I don't mind having it at home it's better than me worrying about it not coming on time. I just had to make sure I stored it properly.

Ordering dresses from David's Bridal
I got mine within a month or two. My wedding not for another year-ish. It's really not a big deal, they sell garment bags and mine just lives in a closet. Davids Bridal does not store wedding dresses.

Ordering dresses from David's Bridal
I just ordered my dress from them after they told me I was running out of time. They said it might take 6-8 weeks... it was here in less than 2. They give you 14 days to come in and pick it up and at that time you make an appointment for a fitting. Same with the bridesmaid dresses.

LOL! I'm sooo paranoid too, so I'm sure I'd be coming up with some crazy scenario as to what can possibly happen to my dress while its in my house.

Me too! I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old and I'm supposed to pick the dress up this weekend. My older daughter's bridesmaid dress is hanging in the closet now and that dress is making me paranoid enough! I can't imagine the stress once MY dress comes home! lol

Re: Ordering dresses from David's Bridal
My bridesmaids ordered their dresses from DB. One girl needed extra length, so it took a little longer, but the rest of the girls got their dresses in two weeks!!!!! The one with extra length came in in about two months.

Hey girls. So the deak with Davids is they give you an 8-12 week lead time. The date they give you is the absolute latest date the dress would come in. Usually the dress comes in in just a few weeks, especially if its a newer style and there's more in stock. There is no room to store the dresses but once u bring it back for alterations they hold it in the alterations department. Same goes with bridesmaids dresses

I would feel better having my dress at home anyways but also you may decide that you do not want your alterations done at DB.

Ordering dresses from David's Bridal
Crashing! I purchased my gown at Davids Bridal in Centereach the last week of December 2011. It came in early February. Long story short, my dress was being discontinued, they had me buy it in my exact size. Fast forward to last week and I went for my first fitting elsewhere and my dress is too small. I somehow managed to gain enough weight over the past 6 months (since I picked it up) that it doesn't fit. I called and was told that since it was purchased last year they could not give me a new dress in a larger size and they could not give me store credit, I was stuck with the dress, there was nothing they could do. In their defense the dress is no longer available in stores and they claim the online site's warehouse is separate from the store warehouse. The dress is still available online but only in select sizes and they told me they can't order it from there for me and even if they could have given me store credit it can't be used online. Luckily its available in the size I would need. So, I was going to order a new one and suck up the loss on the first one but when I went in to get fitted to the store in Westbury the woman was a saint and found me a new dress and said it would be in this week. Fingers crossed because I still haven't heard anything, My advice, if you order your dress early from them order at least 1 size up. You can always take it in but you can't always let it out. I know we all say we want to lose weight etc but it doesn't always happen. I am now almost a month away and I have no dress (at the moment) and still need alterations on the new one when it comes in. Just keep that in mind if you are ordering more than a year out especially since they change their dress inventory so often, it may be that it gets discontinued and sold out in a size you might need.
