Do you have dollar theatres around you? Sometimes they are playing movies that are older in them.

Re: oscars
its so strange to see these iraqi war updates during the oscars.. from 15 dead in iraq to the glitz and glamour of hollywood.

Personally I think its B S its an award show for movies not a political stand night. Get off your soap box!

Re: oscars
I think Chicago should still be in the movies in April. Chicago will probably win a ton of awards tonight so there may be a spike in the numbers of people who go to see it and it will therefore stay in theaters for awhile longer. It is strange to see the war updates intermittently with the Oscars. Such a crazy contrast...

michael moore went on about how he is against the war and against bush

Re: oscars
michael moore took the opportunity to state his political beliefs....it was insane.
thank your peers, your manager, your crew, your friends and family and move on...
it was rather funny though seeing him get booed and the music start rolling and yet he just kept on going.....

Re: oscars
I was actually surprised at how much boo's he got. I guess the actors don't believe this is the time or place to make political statements either. I applaud them for that. By the way, I really wanted bowling for Columbine to win!

Re: oscars
i havent seen bowling for columbine but we discussed it at length in one of my classes and it seems great. i think michale moore has major talent.
but dissing bush at an awards show was kinda out there. wearing anti-war symbols i think is a great way to express yourself. or even say something about how you're hoping for peace.
but oh well, sometimes with great talent comes major outspokenness

Re: oscars
who is this guy that is crying and going on and on and on....he doesnt even seem like he's shutting up
his speach is great though. he isnt being like Michael moore with the war, but rather saying he is hoping for a peaceful resolution. he got a standing ovation.
i respect that speach....that was a good speach

Agreed ladies!
By the way - I think Nicole Kidman looks awful! Her hair is pulled back way too tight and way to blond for her face! Sorry... JMO I hope I'm not the only one

Re: oscars
His speach seemed endless, but you can tell it was straight from the heart. When he got the standing ovation I was like OH MY GOD! At first I was like please not another michael moore but when he was saying he was hoping for a peaceful resolution and talking about his friend who is fighting I was really impressed. The standing ovation was definatly well deserved.
