J. Depp is also someone who never got acknowledged I think until last year..didn't he win? He is a really good actor and is finally getting recognized!!

I thought for a second Johnny won last year - he was nominated, but didn't win (Sean Penn did for Mystic River).
But I totally agree - he is vastly underrated - he's an amazing actor

Ahhh, Do Not Forget, Grasshopper, that Hillary Swank was also 'The Next Karate Kid' and one of Buffy's best friends in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie.

Annette Bening was great in Being Julia - I think Hilary Swank's performance was more demanding and complex than Bening's, but I think the sentimental vote will go to Bening.
Don Cheadle was amazing in Hotel Rwanda. The movie was incredible. . . but I think the momentum is for Jamie Foxx for Ray.
and I agree, Johnny Depp is great in everything he does. In my opinion he chose to be an artist more than he chose to be a star. . . see him in Dead Man by Jim Jarmusch - great movie.

Johnny Depp was nominated for 'Ed Wood' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean'. He is often overlooked because his choices in projects are not often in the mainstream. He is truly one of America's best actors.
I love Don Cheadle. I have not seen the movie yet, but it is on my list. I like in interviews when he says that he only got this role because Will Smith turned it down.
I am sure that Jamie Foxx is going to win. He has all the momentum and I also think he surprised people that see him just as a comedic actor.
The one person that I really want to see win is Morgan Freeman. He was robbed when he did not win for 'Shawshank Redemtion' and 'Driving Miss Daisy' . He is due a statue.

I haven't seen many of the movies nominated, but I did see Million Dollar Baby on Friday night and all i can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!! Anything even remotely related to that movie should win. Including Hillary Swank who I think deserved to beat Anett Benning for Boys Don't Cry - that was one harsh movie.

I'm filling you in, but I couldn't possibly explain to you why I hate this movie so much without *SPOILERS*.
*SPOILERS*
Sideways is a movie about an insecure little jerk/wine 'conoisseur' who takes his buddy on a Bachelor Party trip, just the two of them, through wine country in Northern California the week before the buddy is supposed to get married.
The buddy is even more of a jerk than the first guy, and cheats on his fiancee REPEATEDLY throughout the movie.
The entire time the insecure jerk is going on about why he likes a certain type of wine (whine?) and why he doesn't like this other type of wine. He ends up hooking up with the friend of one of the women the cheating jerk has been cheating with. He loses her briefly when she finds out that Cheating Jerk is getting married this weekend and she goes off in defense of her friend. However, she eventually decides that she'll take the insecure jerk back. In the meantime, Insecure Jerk finds out that his ex wife, on whom he cheated, has now remarried and is pregnant, and he gets all mopey. Oh, and he's bummed because his book isn't getting published. Whine whine wine?
The Cheating Jerk, while he does get a slight bit of comeuppance (Slight is a good word for it, as I wanted to see him suffer considerably more than he did) still gets to marry his fiancee, who NEVER FINDS OUT WHAT HAPPENED. Poor Girl.
And it's all so pretentious and artsy and blah blah blah whine whine whine about wine wine wine.
