Other than dyson, whats a good Vacuum?

Other than dyson, whats a good Vacuum?

We desperately need a new vacuum and plan on putting it on our registry. I would love a dyson but being realistic, if I put that on our registry no one would buy it. So, does anyone have a suggestion for a more reasonable, yet decent vacuum?

Look in Consumerreports.com, they list the best vacuums. I thought I wanted a Dyson also until I read their site (I joined for the year b/c we were registering for so many electronics), but Dyson got really low marks. I guess their vacuums aren't as good as their commercials .

I just bought a Eureka The Boss Smartvac. It got good reports with consumers. I bought it on Amazon.com They had the best price, $25 off if you bought an appliance and free shipping. It is a little heavy but it kinda glides when you are using it so you really don't feel the weight. DH and I where amazed the first time we used it. It really worked good. It just goes to show that we had a vary crappy vacuum b/4. I hope this helps. I searched for weeks for one and I didn't want to spend a lot of $$. It also got good reviews on epinions.com.

We put the yellow dyson on our registry and got it a few weeks ago. The gift giver insisted we try it so he would know whether or not it worked. OMG!!! It is absolutely amazing. You turn it on and it is like ok little dust bunnies come to me. Honestly I have worn a mask vacuuming it is so powerful that no dust escapes from its reach. It catches stuff that amazes me. We both cleaned before we got this machine - but nothing could prepare me for just how amazing the dyson was. I would test one in the store. It is really heavy but the attachments go very far so you don't have to drag it that much. ok enough of me being an advertisement for the dyson. But IMHO it is the absolute best vacuum.

We have the Hoover Windtunnel bagless slef propelled. It was really important to us to have something with a HEPA filter, and this thing gets SO much stuff in it's little tornado thingie. Who KNEW there was that much stuff in the carpet! You also never need to buy bags, and it's really easy to use b/c it's slef propelled. So far we're very happy with it.

I too have a Kenmore with a hepa filter...it's very easy to order bag refills from the Sears website too. I've had mine for 4 years and it still works like new (and I have a cat that sheds a lot!).

I have a Kenmore cansiter and love it. Very good, reliable vacuum.

I have the Dyson animal (the purple one). It is true that for a bagless it does not lose suction - but I'm still not 100% pleased with it.

A couple of the attachments are poorly designed, IMO. The carpet brush assembly does not spin when set for bare floors, so it gets clogged up with animal hair (something that it advertises as not doing). The upholstry brush attachment only spins when the hose is not kinked, something that is impossible to avoid when vacuuming furniture or stairs for that matter.

Is it a good vacuum? sure - but not worth the $500 I spent on it. No way.

I recently got this too! If you like a canister, it's a great vacuum. I had the upright for many years and wanted to switch.
