Ouch, busted...A warning.

Ouch, busted...A warning.

Ok, so I feel like such an idiot.

I just want to warn everyone out there to be careful what you post on this site. I mean, I'm all about being truthful and I love how this site is totally unbiased but I want to warn you ladies on how it can come back to bite you in the ***! Lol.

I had posted something a while ago about a potential vendor that wasn't exactly a glowing review. Well, last night that vendor left me a message (a nice one, don't get me wrong) that they had viewed my post and apologizing all over the place. Imagine how I felt! My stomach dropped. I couldn't belive I was found out! I feel totally embarassed because I truly wasn't SO unhappy that I would have ruled out this particualr vendor. Now even if I wanted to use this person I can't now out of sheer fear of retaliation, lol! Anyway, I'm not saying to NOT say how you feel, but just know that if you're found out, like me, that's pretty much the nail in the coffin! UGH! I'm an idiot!

Don't beat yourself up over this. If what you said was truthful, don't worry about it. This site is for vendors too and if they don't like what is being said about them, they can make changes to improve themselves for the future. Maybe you did them a favor.

I wouldnt beat yourself up over it ~ if it was truthful that is all that matters ~ maybe this particular vendor didnt realize what was done and will use it to make his/her company a better one in the future...
(some people don't realize how they are..especially when they are busy)

I agree. Don't be sorry that you told the truth. And like you said, the person on the phone was not rude and apologized. So I am sure they are not mad.

yes this has happend to me too. I didn't mean it the way it looked, but they got a little disturbed. don't sweat it, that's what a bride's chat is for

The same thing happened to me with a vendor. I posted an honest review and received a call that day - so awkward! But I didn't really care because I wasn't happy with them and wouldn't have booked them anyway - it was still embarassing.

im sorry, but i dont think the vendors should be doing things like that... why are you going to put a girl on the spot?? if anything that would make me not like a vendor even more!! What does the vendor actually get out of confronting a bride, especially a bride who hasnt even booked with them!!

Re: Ouch, busted...A warning.

A similar thing happened to me when I confronted a vendor about a review that was given here before my appointment with them.....they went right to the boards read the review and named the bride to me over the phone.....I didn't think that was right.....then proceeded to call me ALOT!!!!!! and I mean ALOT trying to explain and telling me I was reading into something....that they weren't actually the one the bride was giving the poor review on etc etc.........needless to say i <3 caller id!!! and eventually they gave up...........

I am sure if a vendor wants to be a LIW vendor they understand this is going to happen and must take it as constructive criticism.(within reason of course)......actually a LIW vendor i met with spoke about this same issue and said well it gives me good reason to make sure everything is perfect for every bride!!!! that is probably why this vendor is always given rave reviews on here!!!

OK sorry for the long post...lol

Thanks for the warning!

I think the same thing happened to me! I complained about how a certain dress place kept showing me dresses out of my price range.

the next day they called and left a message on my voicemail about how they could work with me on the price of any dress and that i shouldnt feel limited by budget. . .out of nowhere

i won't go back there now bc i am really bad at confrontation . . . but i felt bad too so i understand how you feel completely!

BUT i also agree with the other girls. . .maybe you helped them out and they will benefit in the end!

I would not let this bother you, your initial feelings were the right ones or else you would not have posted about it in the first place.. and IMO you did THEM a favor.. b/c it made them realize the things the maybe have to change in their professionalism, they way they do things to make their clients happy. I would not beat yourself up over it.

EXACTLY my thoughts on this!

Re: Ouch, busted...A warning.

Every time I post, I KNOW that my vendors could be reading it. For the vendors I didn't book, IMO, I had very real legitimate reasons not to book them, and I have been honest with every single bride that has ever asked.

That said, sometimes those very real legitimate reasons were nothing more than 'I' didn't like their personality. For me, the warm and fuzzy feeling was important if I was going to entrust my day to someone. If I didn't get it, the quality of the vendor's work, the price, or the good reviews on these boards didn't matter one bit. There were other times however when it was the quality of a vendor's work that made me look elsewhere.

Whatever the reason, if a vendor takes the time to read what bride's have to say, and makes changes accordingly, in the end we all benefit. While I don't necessarily agree with a vendor you're not using calling you up, the fact that they felt compelled to apologize, IMHO, speaks volumes.

You're not an idiot. Not everry vendor is perfect for every couple. It's okay to have your own opinions about certain vendors.

You know, my friend (also an LI Wedings chick!) was saying that maybe the vendor wasn't being all nicey, nice; that perhaps they were just 'letting me know' in other words, 'You're busted, now shut up'! I dunno, it makes me feel like a terrible person either way because it TRULY wasn't my intention to rag on them.
