Our first day looking at halls....

Our first day looking at halls....

Hi everyone!
We visited Larkfield Manor and Milleridge Inn. Unfortuneately we didnt like either place. Frank at Larkfield Manor was very difficult to deal with. The place itself was ok...when we walked in there was a really funny smell (dont know what it was LOL). The rooms seemed nice but I overall I was not really impressed. The people at the Milleridge Inn were great to deal with...very thorough. The menu and price was great but I did not like the room. We looked at the Carriage House since we will be having a about 80 to 100 people. I didnt like how the ceromony, cocktail hour, and reception would be held in the same room. The room seemed really small to fit 100 people comfortable. The woman there said that the cottage would be too big for our size party. A little disappointing but the search continues

Try the Stewart Manor Country Club (www.stewartmanor.com) Our October reception was there and we LOVED it. Minimum guarantee is 100, but they might work w/you on that. Only 1 wedding at a time, great food, great prices ($65pp) cake, centerpieces, linens included. Talk with James. He's great!

For 80 to 100, be prepared to be disappointed at the size of the rooms. :( Are you looking for any theme, decor, or price range? I ask because I've been to upwards of 20, and I might be able to help you either eliminate, or come up with places. (we also have 100 max)

I can't agree more about Frank being hard to deal with. He's one of the reasons we didn't choose Larkfield.

I thought a beautiful smaller hall was the GEORGE WASHINGTON MANOR. I think the room is lovely with all the windows. It's a more old fashioned style building, but I loved it. They had a great menu too.

We were having too many guests though.

The Douglaston Manor is great as well. Ask for Thomas! They have great food and a wonderful staff!

That is a good recommendation. I forgot about that place. Don't worry G&D you will find something.

Im having my wedding at the Goerge Washington Manor. I really liked Millerage Inn too... but I thought the carraige house was too small and I also didn't have enough people for the cottage. Check out the GWM it may be what you're looking for too.

It was only your first time out. Most of us probably looked at at least 5 or 6 before deciding. Good luck. Keep us posted!

Re: Our first day looking at halls....

What are you looking for in a hall?
About how many people do you think you might expect?
It was important for us not to have more than one weddding at a time there.
Look for reviews of the reception halls you are interested. You will know when the right one.

We booked Flowerfield for Sept. 18 , 2005.

If you have any questions on why we did or didn't choose places feel free to FM me anytime.

Best Wishes,

THomas

Check out the North Ritz Club in syosset, I'm having 100 people in August, they do one wedding at a time, the place is very spacious and classy, In October they may even be able to do a minimum of 90 people...check them out, the Fox hollow has a smaller room, metropolitan can accomodate smaller weddings.

Also check out the Thatched Cottage in Centerport. It's small and quaint, but very nice.

Maybe it's more because it's closer to xmas. It might have gone up because of business.

Keep in mind also the price may change due to head count or they have to buy extra services to cover the difference
