I've been begging FH to adopt a doggie from the shelter for months now! I wanted to adopt an older dog whom nobody would want, to save him from imminent death Well, FH went to the doggie pound yesterday and came home with a little suprise... say hi to Sparky!!
And, any suggestions on how to introduce a doggie into a home with a cat are VERY welcome!!
no picture...but i'll be introducing my new puppy (to my cat and the boards) this weekend!

I don't remember how I introduced the dogs, but so they get used to the scent I take the towel or blanket that the dog was wrapped in when I took him home & put it near the other dogs. The cat just stayed away......

Thanks! It's kind of sad because he's 9 years old, so we won't have him for TOO long... but, I figure, this little guy deserves to live the rest of his life as happily as a brand new puppy, right?!
Edited to say - kitty's not so happy... she's been hiding under the bed since he came home... but we isolated him to two rooms by putting up a guard rail, so hopefully she'll start wandering in a few days and start to get used to him, and vice versa

When I brought my new puppy home I was told to not introduce them to any other pet right away. My vet said to let my new puppy get used to being in his new house and after a few days introduce them. It was a hard task. After like 2 or 3 days they met and my cat still hates her to this day. I guess they will never get along, I do my best to keep them seperated

Aww Sparky is beautiful. Congrats on the newest addition to your family!
Let me know how the cat-dog intro goes.. we'll need to know for future reference whenever we have room for a pup .. ;-_)

Max was nine when we adopted him and we are soooo happy to know however long he has left, he will be loved & spoiled!! Sometimes we just look into his eyes and wonder how anyone could have given up such a great guy!!
(This was his picture on the Little Shelter website that I emailed to DH and said - GO GET HIM!! )
