Our parents are meeting on thursday for the first time
... any ideas on where we should go out to dinner. we want to go somewhere nice but not expensive, so this way when mike and i go to pick up the check it doesnt become a big del....
any suggestions - we live in nassau county ..

I'm in Queens so I really can't help with suggestions but what about a favorite place you and your FH have? If you're looking for less expensive -what about Chinese?

You can always do Macaroni Grill or something like that - wouldn't be too expensive. Are you looking for a restaurant restaurant? Where in nassau - western or eastern?

Cafe Baci is nice Good food and prices nice size portions.

funny you should mention that... our favorite restaurant is Cafe Spazzo------ the problem
and i cant believe that im telling people this.. is my father doesnt want to have his truck valeted there by someone and now they think that because they have valet that it's all fancy shmancy....
i can never win - thats why i was looking for ither suggestions

Good luck! Funny story....FH is divorced...but when his parents met his ex-wife's parents...they didn't really get along. FH's parents intended to pay for dinner the whole time...but ex-wife's father made some snide comment so the ex-wife's parents wound up paying for dinner. The next day...ex-wife's parents told FH that he owes them money for dinner. (You would think that this would be a clue...but, oh well). Anyway...I always remembered that story.
When it was time for my parents to meet FH's parents...I was telling my mom this story...and that my intention was that we (me and FH) pay for dinner...because we invited them. So, when we go out...the check never came to the table...even though FH asked the waiter like 3 times! Turns out....my mom set it up with the waiter before we sat down...not to bring the check to the table...she gave him the CC before dinner started! She wanted to make sure that FH's parents had a good time...and that we were much classier than the ex-wife's parents. FH's parents were floored...the fully intended to pay for dinner also! Everyone got along great also...special bonus!

im sure taht everything will nbe fine... im just a nrevous nilly and worry about all these things.... (ask my fiance lol).
im just nervouse because our parents are soo different. my parents are 49 year old hippies and his parents are in their late 60s and more old fashioned.
i just want everything to be perfect and stress free!

Since they are meeting for the 1sst time, a nice, casual place would probably be the best idea, so they can talk and get to know each other...Mama theresa's in westbury is awesome, macoroni Grill is nice and laid back, as is chilli's , cozy mels, good luck hope it goes well.

There's a place in Franklin Square called Filomena's. Very good Italian food at very reasonable prices.

Chinese is always a good option, expecially if you get one of those tables with a lazy Susan. That way everyone can order what they want, but you can all share and taste what other people ordered. And do won't about the parentsmeeting, I'm sure it will go great. My parents are in their later 60s and FILs are a bit younger and they get along fine.
