We bought another puppy like 3 weeks ago and yesterday she was acting really weird so we brought her to the vet. They said her sugar was really low and she would have to stay overnight. She seemed to be doing well but the vet just called and said she took a turn for the worse and she passed away. He said she had a parasite also. I am sitting in my office crying and I dont know what to do.

I have never purchased a dog from there, but I have heard so many stories of people getting dogs from there that are sick. It is so sad because I used to love going in there and playing with them.

Yeah i hate shake-a-paw... and any puppy store for this reason. Recently there was a few posts on the pets classified section of craigslist about this place so maybe someone else had the same experience. Ill see if i can find them.

This Story breaks my heart and is the reason i am so Against Puppy Mills and the Pet Stores that sell these dogs.
People have to educate themselves and stop being ignorant and not buy from pet stores

I used to work across the street from Shake a Paw. So sad to see the animals in the windows. You should definitely talk to them or take legal action if you have to. This is unacceptable!!

I have never purchased a dog from there, but I have heard so many stories of people getting dogs from there that are sick. It is so sad because I used to love going in there and playing with them.
Thats horrible. i cant believe these places get away with this. Its not only about the money but the emotional aspect that people suffer also its so unfair

I am so sorry for your loss!
I think you should contact SAP, I am pretty sure that you get some kind of reimbursement ( not that it would replace your beloved puppy - just to help out with the vet bills )

or go to the pound or bide-a-wee or NSAL or little shelter and take home a forgotten baby who needs a forever home.... there are plenty of dogs/cats/puppies/kittens out there that need a home and are FREE!

I agree, pet stores are the devil. If you really want a purebred dog, go to a reputable breeder that you can find listed on the AKC website. Sometimes nasty people will even claim to be breeders but they're not, they just get their dogs from the same horrible puppy mills that supply the pet stores.
I'm so so so sorry for your loss Kim and I hope you and your DH get well soon.
