Our puppy died- UPDATED WITH PIC of PEBBLES

We bought another puppy like 3 weeks ago and yesterday she was acting really weird so we brought her to the vet. They said her sugar was really low and she would have to stay overnight. She seemed to be doing well but the vet just called and said she took a turn for the worse and she passed away. He said she had a parasite also. I am sitting in my office crying and I dont know what to do.

I am so sorry for your loss. It is so amazing how attached we become to our pets. FH and I went through a similar thing with his first dog. He had the dog for about 2 weeks b/4 he passed away. It broke our hearts

Oreo seems to be doing fine but DH and I have been violently sick for a week and now I find out that what she had was contagious to people. Not to mention we spent $1,500 for the puppy and have over $1,000 in vet bills for a puppy that isnt here anymore

normally the vet doesnt make you pay for that when the puppy passes... that happen to us years ago and the vet didnt make us pay

OMG, you're kidding?! Aw, I feel so bad for all of you. That poor dog...what a sin, she must have been so sick! It's so frustrating that these places continue to get away with this. I think it is completely unacceptable...there's just no reason for these poor animals to be in this condition! If it's contagious, Oreo probably would have gotten it too then if you had kept him.

OMG!!!! Kim you should go to the place you got her and see if there is anything they can do. This should not have happened. I am so sorry. I would get oreo checked just to be safe.

OMG i am soo sorry. Where was the puppy from? Have you contacted them about it yet? If it was a breeder you should demand your money back plus any paper work to show the dog was previously to a vet. If it was from a store there will most likely be nothing you can do about the vet bills but again you should be able to get your money back. There are puppy lemon laws. Im just not sure how long after purchase they are good for.

What did the puppy have? I havent heard of anything thats also contagious to people. I mean parasites are but its pretty rare.

I forgot to mention if you are going to fight for vet bills or the purchase money back you should think about having the vet perform a necropsy (animal autopsy) and get a statement from him on the cause of death.

We got the puppy from Shake a Paw. I have to read the contract but I am going to see what I can do. I am just heartbroken right now, She had giardia from what the vet said. My brother who is also a vet said it is contagious to people and we have all of the symptoms.

Gina, I am definitately getting Oreo checked out ASAP! BTW, sorry I missed the barbeque I was so sick
