Our trip to Alaska with a few pictures...

My DH and I went to Alaska to celebrate our one year anniversary. We had such a fabulous time. We spent two days in Vancouver, then went on a 7 day cruise northbound on the Celebrity Summit (Ketchikan, Skagway, Juneau, Hubbard Glacier, Valdez, College Fjord) and then spent two days in San Francisco. Heres a few pictures...

So, what have I missed on the boards? heheh

We loved every minute of our trip, and would definately recommend it. The scenary was absolutely breathtaking all along the way. Since you travel through 'The Inside Passage' land is visible most of the time. We went on whale watching excursions, but we were even able to see whales and seals from our cruise ship. Bald eagles are all over the place. We got really lucky on weather as well...

Here are some photos that give you a sense of the 'Inside Passage' scenary that you see for a week straight...

And I'm not a good photographer. You just aim your camera any where, and thats how the pictures come out. We also saw dozens of waterfalls along the way... So gorgeous...

Looks amazing.

We are thinking of doing a Alaska cruise but Im a little worried about being bored. I mean, Im sure the scenery is gorgeous but I dont think we could keep ourselves entertained with just looking at it all week. Are there other activities and excursions appropriate for people our age?

Re: Our trip to Alaska with a few pictures...

Daylight was about 19 hours when we were there. Very strange to experience at 11:00 at night! hehe

Sonicstef -- the boat has a ton of activities while 'At Sea'... wine tastings, crafts classes, ballroom dance instructions, lectures, casino, art auctions, spa, pools, etc. In terms of excursions we did kayaking, rafting, and whale watches. There were also hiking trips, climbing, helicopter landings on glaciers, flightseeing on sea planes, bike rides, etc. So definitely plenty for the more adventurous spirits.

Our ship was 'Adults Only' for the week, which most likely attracted a quieter crowd. Celebrity is also know for an older audience. Perhaps Royal Caribbean would be a better choice for more young social activities...
