Out of Country Invite question...

Out of Country Invite question...

Ladies who have mailed your invitations...

what did you do for out of the country invites? The post office told me that they can't give me a stamp (obviously) so my guests in France can mail their reply card back. They have to put their own postage on it and mail it. I feel sad that we have these really nice invitations and that it is tacky to have their reply card with no postage

Any one else have this issue? is this common?

My relatives in Italy and Canada TOLD me not to stamp the reply envelope because of this reason. i think its fine. You could go crazy out of your way to buy their stamps, but really I would think its perfectly fine for you to not stamp the return env.

Yes. We could not put a stamp on the rsvp card because they have their own postage and they have to put their own.

When I sent my invites to Italy, the response envelopes were blank. The USPS does not have foreign postage to put on the envelopes. It's not tacky, so don't worry about it. Weddings are done so much differently here in the US than other countries so don't worry about it.

I don't think there is anything wrong with that, they should understand. If it's possible tell them to give you a call or you call them. FH uncles called to confirm.

its totally fine for out of country invites .... if you have a TON of them all going to the same country, and a close friend or relative who lives there, you could ask them to mail you the RSVP postage and then put it on before you mail the invites out.

for guests in the US, yeah ... its a little 'tacky' not to put postage on the RSVPs

That's true! I honestly forgot for a second that it really doesn't matter if they respond... since they just moved out there and their 2 girls are my flower girls and I know they have already booked their flights back...

thanks ladies! I'm not worrying... I just know that my aunt would be the one to pick on me for not giving her a stamp...

Re: Out of Country Invite question...

We ran into this problem with FH's family from Ireland. All of a sudden I realized that we couldn't use our postage on the response envelopes. So he called his relatives over there who told us to just not put any postage on the response envelopes. It's just easier for them to purchase it themselves.

I'm sure your relatives will be completely understanding and not mind purchasing their own postage.

Re: Out of Country Invite question...

I sent it to my friend and I emailed him to see if he recieved it and asked if he was coming so he didnt have to send it back.

I didn't stamp the invites to France and Canada, I figured if they didn't want to send it back, they could call or email and we'd understand but they both did.

Our relatives in Australia and England had no problem putting the postage on. There is really nothing you can do, so why worry about it?

I didnt put a stamp on the RSVP envelope. They didnt send it back, but I knew they were coming. If they wanted to mail it back they would've had to put their own postage on it.

I had them hand delivered down there. my poor cousin had to give 25 of them LOL poor thang. south american mail is a joke. there's no way they would've made it on time.

I don't even know if there was postage on them b/c i didn't stuff them but i'll just assume if i don't get a call or email by the RSVP date that they're not coming. it was more of a courtesy b/c they always send me invites.

Do not stress about such a minor detail. No one is going to think you are tacky!

I sent one to Canada with a US stamp by mistake. They called to RSVP. If you want, include your email address or phone number so they have options.

I mailed mine to Canada & Greece but didn't know until it was too late. I even work at PO & didnt know. LOL
I am sure they will call to RSVP. It cost me $1.94 to send each invite to Greece...for a regular .59 cnt envelope here. WOW, that's alot more.
Canada was $1.16
