out of state weddings ...

i saw pictures of an old friends wedding pictures ... they got married in another state. why is that weddings in other states are so ... how can i say this in a nice way .. different?

everything is so relaxed. none of the guests were wearing nice clothing, there was no theme and the colors she picked didnt look good together.

its just interesting. my husband heard me talking about it and said i was being mean ... i just find it so interesting.

Actually I think we are the odd ones, I think a lot of places are much more low key at weddings, North/Central NJ, South CT, CA and RI excluded. At least thats been my experience. And I have been to 14 out of state weddings.

Actually i put on my invitations black tie invited. Not because I want guests to wear tuxes, in fact I have been telling locals dark suites are fine, but because for many of my college friends (and we invited a ton) black tie means they will actually dress up. Otherwise they will show up in cotton floral print dresses, like I would wear to a normal dinner.

True and I'd include parts of Texas on there too...

I'm a little jealous honestly...we overdo it!

Yes we do, actually even CT & RI, they throw more elaborate weddings but they don't do all the little crazy details we do.

I don't think this is necessarily true. I am from MI and I have been to weddings in OH and MI that were absolutely amazing and just as elaborate as the ones here! On the otherhand, I have been to weddings like the ones you have described. I do agree however that people outside of NY have less of a tendancy to overdo it.
