Out of town bridesmaids.....

Do you have out of town bridesmaids? What are you doing about the dress situation?

My three best friends live in Rochester NY. As I search for dresses, I make sure that they are also available in the Rochester area in a few different stores.

I am going to tell the girls what dresses they are and tell them where they can find them. I know it might be a bad idea since the dresses will be coming from a different dye lot, but it would be too much trouble and hassle and room for incidents if I do it where they send me their measurements and I order them myself.

I am so nervous about all of this!!!! I cant imagine how this is going to go smoothly!

What is your situation??

Re: Out of town bridesmaids.....

One of my bridesmaids lives in Florida and we are probably just going to get our dress from a designer they carry there as well...although I have heard(I believe on this site!) that you should order the dresses all together so they are sure to come in the exact same color because otherwise it may be slightly off(has anyone else heard this?)...so we may have them ordered all together and then sent to her in FL so she can have the alterations done...not quite sure how to work it yet!(suggestions are welcome!!! )

Re: Out of town bridesmaids.....

One of my BM's is moving to North Carolina after her wedding, which is in July. Hopefully I will have their dress ordered already so that I can just ship hers to her and she can do the fittings down there.

Re: Out of town bridesmaids.....

Im ordering all the dresses off the internet and having them take their dresses to a seamstress. I have two BM's that are in florida and one that I barely see that lives in Brooklyn.

Re: Out of town bridesmaids.....

Three of the girls are in the Mid West and the other tree are on LI. I was planning on doing David's bridal seperates so the girls could easily go into the salons and try on what they like in the color I pick, but now we might be doing Alfred Angelo seperates. Either way we'll be ordering them from a salon in NY and then sending the gowns out so they'll be the same dyelot.

The worst part is that I'm in CA, but most likely we'll be moving back to LI before the wedding. I HATE having to do stuff our here and without the girls. It is the biggest pain so far for me.

Re: Out of town bridesmaids.....

I was in a wedding in PA a few years ago, and all of the bridesmaids lived in different states, so the bride picked a dress from David's Bridal, told us which one, we tried them on, sent her our size, and she ordered them all so they were of the same dye lot. We got them from her at her shower in PA a few weeks before the wedding, and used our own seamstresses to make any alterations. It worked out well.
