Is the bride supposed to pay for out of town guests hotel rooms or just reserve them?

Re: Out of Town guests
Just reserve them - I'd go even more broke otherwise!!
We are paying for a couple of rooms as 'tokens of appreciation' (grandma's room, one aunt I'm very close to) but everyone else is on their own.

No, they are responsible.
Also, check with your reception place, they might work with different hotels in the area and have special rates, transportation for guest at the end of the night - etc.

OMG!!! If I had to pay for my OOTG's hotel rooms I would be broke for sure. Yuo just block them off (so your guests will get a discount). Make sure to let your guests know where you blocked rooms.

Haha - I'm just chuckling b/c someone TOLD me earlier that they'd be offended if they were an OOT guest at my wedding & I didn't pay for their room or at least their airfare!! I dont think the word broke even comes close to describing that!!
I read somehere that there's an old tradition that the bride/groom cover the cost of OOT lodging but it also said that it stems back to when people stayed with relatives & friends in their homes - not in a $130 night hotel!
If you block them off for the discount - maybe at 2 places (for dift. peoples budgets) - you'll be fine.

yeah, thank god for just reserving them, lol. My wedding would be totally unaffordable otherwise (Lots of Florida, Cali, and Puerto Rican guests)

We're not paying for their hotel rooms, but we're going to fly them all in on FH's plane. Just kidding Over half our guests are OOT, so there's no way I'm paying for it. The most I would offer is to help out if a member of the bridal party needed money for airfare/hotel.

Yep! We're doing the ceremony and reception there. I'm really looking forward to it--the food from our tasting was so great!

No way, we'd go broke if we had to pay for the rooms. We just reserved a block of rooms (the hotel gave us a nice discount). I'm also going to put little goodie bags in the room.
