A friend of mine got married in Jamaica this past weekend- we werent able to go. We went to her an engagement gift and gave a nice gift. I couldnt go to her shower- but I sent a gift. Do I still need to send a wedding gift- and what- thanks!

Did you get an invitation to the wedding? If so, I would send a gift... something off their registry.

She didnt send me an invitation because she said she didnt want me to feel obligated to send a gift because she knew I couldnt go to the wedding.

according all the wedding etiquette rules, a shower gift is mandatory (if you've been invited) and a wedding gift is optional.
But all the rules go out the window based on all the other factors that are involved, like how well you know this person, etc.
If she's getting married in jamaica, she must know how expensive weddings can be, so if you explain that you can't afford a huge wedding gift, I'm sure she'll understand...get her something if you really want to.
