Re: Out of Towners..
i was thinking about getting a shuttle. but it depends how many OOT's you have. i dunno how many i have. but they will know that it's your day. and i'm sure they won't expect it. that's something extra. save your money for the honeymoon!!!!

Most of my guests are OOT'ers, too. We'd thought about booking a shuttle to take them to the reception, and home again, minimizing all the drunken driving.
But it's so expensive! It was going to add another $1,000 onto our budget, and we decided we'd rather splurge on cool favors or extra food, especially when most of the guests were going to be renting cars or could carpool fairly easily.
There are lots of limo services on LI that can provide shuttle transportation...but for quite a bit of money.

Some hotels provide transportation for your guests. Will you be blocking off a section of rooms at one hotel for your OOTers? That's what FH & I are doing because all the guest from his side are from OOT (he's from upstate) so we're making sure to pick a hotel that can provide a shuttle bus for our guests. Good luck!

It isn't expected but it is a nice gesture. We are having a lot of people from oot so we thought is was better to get the shuttle. It is a piece of mind that they will get back to the hotel.

I agree!!! Especially if you have a big drinking crowd.

It's something nice to do. A LARGE part of the guests invited to my sister's wedding were Out-of-towners. We figured it would be easier for them not having to navigate around Long Island.

Re: Out of Towners..
85% of my wedding guests are coming in from OOT - our hotel is providing guests transportation to the RH from the hotel and back for 1 trip.
It didn't cost any extra, but only guests who use the wedding code get to use it.

All of our guests were from OOT and many of them told us not to waste our money on transportation for them. We were paying for the wedding ourselves.
It depends too on how far the hotel is from the reception site. Ours was only 4 miles away, so people car-pooled and took cabs. People are smart.

I think it is a nice thing to do, you can do it for relatively cheap as well......
