Out of your budget or ...

Out of your budget or ...

more than you wanted to spend. I've found myself saying the latter. Not that the sky's the limit with our budget but we will be saving a lot of money and anything we cannot afford I know my parents will pick up the tab on. But there are some things I just can't see spending all this money on. Anyone else feel the same?

I feel the same way - we are in huge saving mode right now but we need to cut something's and it can't be our headcount. So, I'm going to try to save some $ by doing candle cp's instead of flowers. I'm also going to try a lot of DIY things.

yes like I dont really feel the need to spend so much on flowers, I just think that it is a waste of money to spend thousands and thousands of dollars for them to die in 2 days

When I tell you I started this whole wedding planning I said my max was 18k, then it went to 25k, then 40. At this point I am not keeping track but will tell myself no on things like a band. they are great just may be out of my make believe budget!

Exactly!! My big expenses are the hall and music - the two things that FH and I think are the most important part of a wedding reception.

totally hear you, I went and made sure we allotted enough money for the hall and the music but everything else I am going to try to conserve money as much as I can

i agree. i love flowers and i can't imagine my june wedding without them, but i refuse to spend thousands of $ on flowers that are going to die the next day.. we will spend most of our money, on the hall, music, and photo/video... i'm gonna have to cut down on the guestlist too.

I'm definitely going this route... actually, I want to because I prefer candle-based centerpieces to floral arrangements... and the saving is a nice side effect!

And I am definitely feeling the 'more than I want to spend' vs out of the budget. I have a big enough budget to cover the things that are important, but there are some things that are just not worth the extra money!

I think both...there are some things I just cant see myself spending thousands of dollars on...but then it might be something someone else doesnt understand how I cant spend that much...I think it really depends on what is important to you specifically

Thats why i planned my wedding to be two years later so i can have the money to get what i want...but somethings i think are just a total waste of money.

we are definitely also in savings mode but it doesnt help that its the xmas season and we just moved to a new place

I hope that we try to stay within budget and DIY sounds good right about now lol

Re: Out of your budget or ...

well...to be honest when we first set our budget, we know nothing about how much it could cost to get married in long island for about 110 people. so we set our budget at like 10K thinking it would be enough.

then we started visiting halls and finding out vendor prices and we said, okay, we'll set our budget at no more than 14K.

well right now, according to my estimates we'll wind up spending close to about 20K or so.

so i've been rather careful of what we are spending $$ on. i mean while it might be nice to spend like $3K or $4K on flowers...it is just NOT a possibility for me.

bottom line...we brides know what we want to splurge on..hopefully we all make good decisions on it all!
