I am planning on having an outdoor ceremony string quartet and am wondering if they need to be amplified if its outdoors with 150 guests? Does anyone know?

Re: Outdoor ceremony music??
I would say yes. Mine will have mics, but in addition to being outdoors, it will also be on the beach, so the string trio will be competing with a lot of other noise. I think better safe than sorry.

I would ask your hall. They have probably dealt with it before and can give you the best information. I am asking my hall because I am having a small accapella group outdoors and am worried about the same thing.

Re: Outdoor ceremony music??
We had an outdoor ceremony as well as a string trio and didn't need to have them amplified at all.
Its surprising how loud they can really be. We loved it : ).

My hall has a speaker system set up outside, but the musicians I am probably using said they usually don't use anything!

Let me know if you find out if speakers are needed or not. I forgot to find out if that was needed for an outside ceremony.
