Outdoor Wedding?

Outdoor Wedding?

So I'm starting at square one. I discovered something about myself, not only do I hate catering halls, I am made physically sick by them. So ...

Plan B, our original idea, vineyard wedding, but I'd only want to do it, if its outdoors.

Fear or rain made us toss the idea originally, but my fear of catering halls is far greater.

September is perfect timing for us emotionally, but weather wise seems nice as well. I've checked all the climate data, it rains almost the same amount every month on the island, so do I just pray for no rain and pitch a tent?

Any advice, suggestions?

Go to www.lessings.com. They are a caterer and have many options that are not catering halls. I'm getting married at Coindre Hall.

Martha Clara Vineyards does weddings....I'm pretty sure you can either use a tent or have a small reception in a room off their tasting room, which has a sort of barn feel.

I am getting married at the Vineyard Caterers which is a working vineyard but the reception is mostly indoors. The ballroom is very simple, not too catering hallish. You can have your ceremony outside in their gardens near the vineyards also.

outdoor weddings can be great. Martha's vineyard. if you decide to go outside of the LI area, I would recommend Castle on the Hudson, or Tarrytownhouse in Tarrytown, NY

Definitely do it! It will be gorgeous. I think a tent will alleviate a lot of potential stress b/c you won't have to worry about rain if you know you'll be covered (literally). Just think of the fresh air and beautiful view! You can also probably have a lot more to work with in terms of expressing your own vibe and style.

I know what you mean about the halls giving you the icks. I had the same worries. I ultimately chose Milleridge b/c it had sentimental meaning to me and therefore it did not freak me out. I think it's most important to pick a place that you feel reflects who you are and most importantly, doesn't make you break out in hives just thinking about it

Check out The Old Field Club - I don't like catering halls either, but this isn't one, really - it's a beach club that rents its room out. It's very nice and has a backup inside option, so you don't have to worry about a thing! I'm biased, but I think it's really beautiful and simple.
