Outer Envelope (State&Zip)

Outer Envelope (State&Zip)

I am starting to put together my outer envelopes for my invites. When I spell out the State my zip code goes to the next line.

Has this happened to anyone? Should I leave the City, State on one line and the zip on the next? Or, Should I leave the city on one line and the State & Zip on the next?

Thank you.

I think City and state should be on one line. zip can go on the next.

Are you actually spelling out the state? Can you just abreviate? ex. NY or NJ

Thank you.

I guess you're not suppose to abbreviate the outer envelope...I heard you're suppose to spell out the state on the outer envelope & abbreviate the rsvp envelope.

For a formal invitation you're supposed to spell out the state. You're also supposed to spell out Street, Avenue, etc.

Of course only crazy brides know these etiquette rules so don't worry about it!!

Re: Outer Envelope (State&Zip)

I always put the zip code on a separate line, even when I hand address a regular letter.

example.

Mr. & Mrs. Joe Blow
123 Summer Street
New York, New York
10020

or

Mr. Joe Blow
Ms. Jane Doe
123 Summer Street
New York, New York
10020

HTH

Ok, it didn't work the way I typed it, but when I do it it the zip code would be under the second 'York' under the state.

Why not just abbreviate the state? It looks fine. Just do it like NY without the periods.
