Outside Ceremony

Anyone who is getting married outside, what kind of music are you having? I'm getting married outside at the watermill and want to have a harpist but am nervous that the music will be drowned out since it is outside. Is anyone having cordless microphones for the musicians and officiant?

Outside Ceremony

I'm having an outside ceremony. We're getting married at the PJ Country Club, so its right on the water & a bit loud, too. The staff at PJCC, as well as our officient, recommended a microphone for at least the vows...I'm kind of nervous, all I can think about is that loud screaching noise when the microphone gets too close to the speaker. For music we are having a string quartet, which maybe louder than a harp, but we won't be using a microphone. Good luck!

We are having a microphone for the officiant at the WM ...

although we probably do not need it - I think we need it more for my FH and me! :-) Our band gives a courtesy cocktail hour music, but since I booked the Steel pans from them - they gave us the keyboardist for the ceremony. We are having him, plus I think I'll pay the extra to have the trumpet player, so I can walk down to Trumpet Voluntary! :-) Good Luck!

I'm also looking for a string quartet. Who are you using, and about how much are they? I priced around, and everything is quite expensive for 1hr.

My sister is actually a concert violinist-in-training, so she is putting together a quartet for me & will be playing herself during the ceremony. I didn`t look into any other quartets. I don`t know exactly what we are paying yet. SOrry I`m not more helpful, but I would suggest calling one of the music departments at universities on teh Island or in the city -- my sister doesn`t go to school in NY but she works a lot of functions that she gets through school -- the musicians are young, but really good & cheap. Good luck.
