Ovarian Cyst?

Ovarian Cyst?

So I just got back from the doctor and found out that I have a cyst on my right ovary. I noticed some pain/pressure on sunday and i has been getting better each day but is still there...so i went to the doc. She said its not a large cyst and it seems to be draining presently and that i will be fine. But i can't help but panic that it will rupture and i will be in pain at our wedding. She also said it could be from ovulation as we all rupture a cyst each month (who knew!) any ladies have experiene with this? I am starting to freak out!

I have endometriosis and have had ovarian cysts. How did she diagnose the cyst -- through ultrasound? If she did ultrasound, did the cyst appear to be filled with blood? That's the kind that I've had.

It sounds like what she's describing is more of a functional cyst, which would be the kind formed during ovulation.

Try not to stress about it too much. And def. call your doctor if you have questions or concerns. That's what she's there for!

I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and I've had cysts rupture, cysts stay there, cysts surgically removed and cysts surgically drained..I wouldn't worry. Only once did I have a hemmoragic cyst rupture that I doubled over, usually when it passes it's more relief and you don't realize so much. Any questions, FM me

I have them and never knew until I went for other issues right before my shower......seems that they do rupture and I do get painbut never bad enough for me to worry.

THe Dr told me it was very normal as long as they arent big and as long as they come and go.

Do not freak out! It is actually a very common thing among younger women. There is no reason to think it should bother you at the wedding or during you wedding weekend. One of my best friends and my other one (college roommate) both had this and it went away and caused nothing serious

I occasionally used to get them when I would ovulate and then they would go away. I would listen to the doctor, I think you should be fine.

she did a sonogram..didnt say anything about blood...to me it sounded like it had to do with ovulation but they obv can't confirm that...i feel better reading your responses...thanks so much!

I have a Cyst too. Its nothing to worry about. The doctor says about 80% of women have them and don't even know about it.

Yes. A few years ago my OBGYN said I should go for a sonogram after see thought I might have cist. It turns out that I did. It did not rupture, but she said you get them every month mine just did not go away. Went back for another sonogram and it was gone. My friend has them too and it ruptures sometimes she said sometimes she is in pain other times she is not. I think it is common.

It's extremely common, and apparently, healthy. My doctor told me that she would be more worried if I didn't have one than the fact that I did. I experienced the same thing as you, a pressure/discomfort/pain, but I would also bleed mid-cycle, which is what had flipped me out enough to go to the dr. After the sonogram, it hasn't happened again...mind over matter much? LOL. But regardless, it's totally normal, and try not to worry.

my sister used to get very bad cysts - hers only 'ruptured' when it was aggrevated. she went on BC and that is supposed to help, but every girl gets them apparently.

Are you on birth control? That's supposed to help shrink/prevent cysts from growing. Hope you're feeling better soon!

I have pcos as well. I was diagnosed when I was 17 and Iam 26 now and I only had 2 of them burst. I wouldn't worry about it, its very rare. Cysts are very common, many women have them.

I have had three rupture and I get them every month if I am not on the pill. I even sometimes get them when I am. I will be honest, if it ruptures it can be VERY painful. I went to the hospital twice because of it. But the pain goes away quickly once it ruptures.

Usually they do go down and if they told you it is already going down I wouldn't worry. Take hot baths. Usually hot baths will help it go down. The bath could cause it to rupture, but you have a month until your wedding, so if it ruptured now that would actually be a good thing. I believe that will only happen if its going to rupture anyhow, it will just make it happen a little sooner. Either way it will feel much better when your soaking in a warm bath.

If you continue to get them, go on the pill.

I have Endo as well and have had many cysts in the past. Cysts are very common. Most women get them and they don't even notice. Some get them and they are painful. I would just keep track of how often you feel pain. It may burst, or it may not burst. Your OB/GYBN will know the best possible method for you and how to proceed from here.

I have one also, Its not a uncommon thing for women to get, Sometimes girls dont even know they have one. They say that BirthControl helps maitain the size of this cyst. Mine usally hurts every other month when i ovulate. *u only ovulate from one ovary each month* so when im ovulating from my right ovary i tend to be in pain a little more then normal.
Good luck and im sure everything will be okie.
