Is $4,000 a lot more over budget than most of you originally planned? I am stressing a bit but trying to keep cool. More ways to cut corners anyone?

Re: Over Budget???
Try 15K.... Before I really started planning I had a number, but when I started looking I realized that it was impossible to stay in that range.
But once I booked the hall and did a second budget, I am still on track.

Re: Over Budget???
I bet we are $5-7K over budget once all is said and done. We originally figured $30k but that is just not happening unless we definitely get only our minimum # of guests but even still staying at that budget is questionable.

Re: Over Budget???
i set a budget before really looking at vendors so maybe my budget was unrealistic for a LI wedding but i blew my budget by 10 grand.

I'm about that much over.... probably heading for more too.... I estimate the max we'll go over is 6K.

Re: Over Budget???
I am about 4-5K over what I originally planned for. I also did my budget before meeting with vendors. I think that is about normal. I told my sister when she planned her budget to expect to go over it by about 5K...

Re: Over Budget???
My parents wanted to pay for the whole wedding, but my reception wound up being what they thought the whole thing would cost! We've bdugeted things pretty well since then. We cut corners a lot with the flowers. They're still going to be beautiful, but nothing overboard. We also picked out inexpensive favors and are giving one per couple, so we saved there too.

Re: Over Budget???
Thanks chickas, I don't feel so alone I am trying to save on some things (like dj, invites) and am looing into package deals at Commack, but don't know if it would be cheaper to book individually? I have to check it all out. ANy advice for inexpensive vendors? Haha

So far I think I will only go 2 or 3 thousand over budget.. so far so good... I WOULDNT try to save on the DJ but that JMO.. Music can make or break the wedding.. that is one area besides the photography we went all out.. save on something like the flowers - but again thats JMO
