Over Water Bungalows

Over Water Bungalows

Are there any resorts (besides Fiji, Bora Bora, etc.) that have over water bungalows??

We'd really like to keep the flight time under 10 hrs so the caribbean or Atlantic is better than the Pacific.

I think they have them at 9 Beaches resort in Bermuda...

The only ones I know of are:

Most resorts in French Polynesia (12 hrs from NY)
Most resorts in the Maldives (very far...)
9 Beaches in Bermuda

Since the water has to be VERY calm, overwater bungalows are usually located where there are protected lagoons. We're going to French Polynesia (tahiti, moorea and bora bora) and can't wait!!! The flight will be worth it.

I've never been to bermuda but I guess the water is calm enough to have them there...

They also have beach bungalows in Fiji, but no overwater.

click here for 9 beaches website

and here are some trip advisor reviews: click here Look at the 'Candid user photos', I noticed that the OWB's aren't nearly as far out over the water as the OWB's in Tahiti. They also seem to be a lot higher up over from the water, whereas some of the Tahiti OWB's have steps into the lagoon. 9 Beaches has a small glass floor to see the fish, eel, etc but there didn't seem to be any.

I looked at 9 Beaches as an alternative to Tahiti, and found it lacking.

I noticed that! We also wanted that 'bungalow' feel and that's how we found 9 beaches. It looks great, but there is nothing like the bungalows in tahiti!!! The plane ride is a small price to pay for the beauty!
