overpriced vent

Okay so I went to Bridal Couture in Manhasset today. I fell in love with this couture gown by Daniel Thompson there and though a bit out of my price range it brought tears to my eyes and I knew I wanted it. BUT THEN...I see out of the corner of my eye a dress that looks strangely familiar...I check it out...it is the same exact, no not similar, but SAME EXACT dress I tried on at Lidia's in Copiague. At Lidia's it was between 6 and 700 dollars ( i don't remember exactly) and at this place it was $2900!!!!!!!! Me and my SIL almost died! The tags were cut out so when we asked who the designer was they said they weren't sure but they think it's some fancy pants name. HOW MESSED UP IS THAT!!?? So bottom line, I started to question authenticity of this dress..how did I know they weren't lying to me too and that maybe I could find it cheaper elsewhere. So I left, appalled and dressless.
Sorry I just had to vent. And I thought you guys should beware of shady bridal boutiques!!!

I could believe that. My mother's friend (and her daughter) both ordered their dresses from there and had very bad experiences. The owner of the store actually threatened them

Yea those places rip you off. I went to Moonlight Couture in Merrick which is where I found my dress and ordered it for MUCH cheaper elsewhere which goes to show they raise the prices ridiculously.

Re: overpriced vent

That's crazy! That reminds me of Legally Blonde (I think it's Legally Blonde) where she's shopping and the saleslady cuts off the tags to try and get her to buy the dress at full price

aww that stinks! maybe post a picture on here, and maybe we can help find where else you can get it, but for cheaper!

Re: overpriced vent

Thanks for posting this, I wanted to go here when I start my gown shopping. If the tags were cut then they prob boost the prices way up and if they are fake then thats just wrong

Re: overpriced vent

that's where I bought my gown. I fell in love with a daniel thompson gown also. I went to a lot of places looking for something like it, and found nothing so in the end I dragged my grandmother there, and once she saw my face knew I had to get it. I'll thank my grandma till the end of time for it. it was def over our limit on what to spend. we even got talked into a veil. but we met Daniel Thompson, and he's going to customize my gown so no one else will have the same exact thing. so I guess it's worth it.

That really stinks! Some bridal salons figure they can cheat you, so why not? On a side note, I love Legally Blonde! My chihuahua loves to watch it too! She loves Reese's squeaky voice!

Re: overpriced vent

I had to chime in here because I too fell in love with a Daniel Thompson gown at Bridal Couture. It was actually a stock gown they had from one of his trunk shows but it was still out of my price range.

I tried on about 50 more dresses after his and I still kept thinking that I had to have it. So I went out of my budget and splurged but I am SO HAPPY I did. I wanted to make a few changes to the gown and they were more than cooperative and did an amazing job on the alterations. At the last minute I ordered a custom Daniel Thompson veil to match my gown. He matched the lace on the gown perfectly and he had it done in one week!

I know that Bridal Couture gets trashed and I agree that some of their employees could certainly work on their customer service but it's so worth putting on a smile and dealing with them if the end result is feeling AMAZING on your wedding day.

Re: overpriced vent

I'm sorry this happened to you. A friend of mine just bought her dress from there. The tags were cut and she didn't find out the name of the designer until after she purchased the dress. I warned her about the things I heard about this place but she couldn't help it- she loved the dress. She got really excellent service, as did we when we tried on bridesmaid dresses but I probaly know she could have paid less for her dress...
