Overwhelmed

Overwhelmed

Do you ever feel a little overwhelmed?? I don't usually post on here and complain, but I've had one of those days. My hubby owns his own business, so he puts in enough hours there and now for the summer he has taken on another job right after work until midnite, 4 days a week, so I don't see him until 1am and by then I am too exhausted to even hold a conversation (not to mention that it takes him the 3 days he has off to recoperate from working so much). The problem is also that I have my 3 year old at home, who I love to death, but he is quite active and talks non-stop, it's enough to exhaust anyone, let alone myself being 4 months pregnant. It gets tough because I don't have adult interaction, I get up in the morning with Jordan, I'm with him all day and eat dinner with him and go to bed by myself, and I feel a little abandoned I guess, I feel like a single Mom sometimes. Am I wrong to complain? I know that I am lucky to be able to stay at home with Jordan, but how do I get him to understand how hard this really is?
Thanks for letting me vent

Re: Overwhelmed

I hope venting helped. Sometimes that's all you need. Is there any kind of camp you could sign your son up for? My friend has a three year old and a new born. She signed her three year old daughter up for one week to a camp where she goes to nursery school during the school year. She said her daughter loved it and it gave her some time to socialize with friends. She made a lot of lunch dates for that week. Just a thought. My hubby works a lot of hours too and we only have Sunday to spend together. I am home for the summer actually until December, and I my baby isn't born yet. It can get lonely. Hang in there and feel better If you ever want to chat, just let me know .

Wanna get together some day? I get pretty bored during the day too... would be great to have a playmate.

I can certainly relate! My DH is working some CRAZY hours right now and I see him while we pass eachother getting ready in the morning, and if I'm awake at midnight, then.

Do you have any family or close friends around you? Do any of your friends have kids? It's definately important to have some adult conversation. Maybe you can even join a play group so your son will have playmates and you'll have other moms to talk to.

Vent away Jen! My DH also works long hours then on Saturdays he'll play golf and Sundays he has softball so I feel alone a lot of the time too. I only work 3 nights a week so I get pretty bored too.

I have had days & weeks like that!!! You are not alone. My husband would work 7 days a week if I let him. Added to my hell is HIS niece staying w/ us. It's been 2 1/2 weeks & I'm ready to snap. She's 14 going on 2. (Sorry this was your venting post!!)

You're not wrong to complain.
Can you get soemone to watch him for one day - like from the morning ot the afternoon so you can get some 'me' time? I'm sure once the new baby arrives your DH won't be working as much. But I know it's hard I've seen my friends in the same situation and I feel for them and try to help out when I can.

Re: Overwhelmed

I feel like a baby for complaining, and a little crazy because of these pregnancy hormones!! ! I had a talk with my hubby last night, actually more like me crying and babbling (crazy pregnancy hormones), but I think he's starting to understand a little - it's hard because I know that this second job is just for the summer (although he puts in long hours at his shop all year), but I really didn't know that it would be this tough without him around and being preggers....sooooo, I made an appt this morning to go for a mani and pedi and my Mom is taking Jordan and then we are going to lunch and my hubby took off Saturday night and we are going out! I am looking into preschools for Jord for the fall, but they are sooooo expensive in Southampton!! We'll be moving closer to his work soon, so he swears that he'll be home more because the commute will only be 5 minutes instead of more than an hour!

Thanks ladies for making me feel better!!! And yes Karen, we do need to get together - after all we only live 5 minutes away from each other

Re: Overwhelmed

I think all mommies feel it! somedays I feel like Im a housekeeper, nanny, etc.
I ADORE my children, but mommies DO need a break for themselves and Jenn youre NOT Alone. Vent away, and dont feel bad for feeling this way.

Although my hubby just works 'office hours' and does work late occasionally, I cant complain. Im usually out more than he is, but the mommy thing CAN be overwhelming at ANY AGE I was sayingto my hubby, when John Anthony (22m) gets a little older, he will calm down (not be so 'boy-tough' LOL) and then I had my nieces over who are 3 and 5, and they ask questions ALL DAY, so I said to myself, 'wow, with each age comes it challenges, it doesnt get easier the next year!'

Although with each age also comes the amazing discoveries and accomplishments, so I'll take the whole package

Im glad you and Karen are close to eachother. There are also many mommy groups that you can interact with.

Here are some:

ETA: if there's a GTG thats somewhat local to me, ID love to attend
