overwhelmed...

overwhelmed...

I just need to vent guys.

I worked last year teaching7th grade and my position was cut due to budget problems. I found out veyr late in the year and was forced to take a leave replacement position which thankfully turned out to be a full year position but now I am stuck searching for a job again being that the teacher who I am in for is apparently comming back in sept. I have an interview on Friday, but I am not exactly sure I want to work in the district it is for.

The thing is the job I take this year I will HAVE to stay at at least till I get tenure. I CANNOT in any circumstances be trying to interview next summer during my wedding. I refuse to go on my honeymoon not knowing if I will have a job and not to mention we need to find somewere to live. It is completely stressing me out to the point where I wake up everyday sick to my stomach.

I also am taking grad classes this summer and I just got the cyllabus' ...UGH I signed up for 2 more for september , but I am just so stressed because AGAIN I will prob. be in a new school with new curriculum to learn. I am so tired of working my BUTT off all year preparing tests, activities, lessons etc and then to have it be useless the next year.

Between grad school and work all I do is worry about money and I really just want things to work out for me for once. We cannot live off of FH's salary and I need to be somewere permanent so I can et tenure and have some stability. With the wedding planning on top of this I am just down in the dumps...I mean I get so excited thinking about the wedding, but then I get so depressed because I dont know where we will live and where Ill be working.
ETA: I am also paying for my grad school out of pocket which is significantlly depleted the wedding savings...HUFF

BLAH.. sorry for the long vent. Any advice?

Re: overwhelmed...

I feel ya...I work in a catholic elementary school right now. I'm afraid to take a leave replacement (not like I was ofered anything) bc with my FH still being in school until May 06 (he is working full time as well) I want to make sure that I will have a premanent job (which mine is...I got tenure this year) taking a leave would mean that I would have to worry next year which I don't want to do (I don't mind interviewing but like you said I want to be able to relax knowing I at least have a job, even if its not the best).
Go on the interview. See if you like the position they're offering then weigh out the pros and cons. Maybe the job will seem more appealing after you have the interview and find out some more information. Don't stress about the grad classes. It will all get done. Take it one day at a time and you'll get through it. you've gotten this far, right!

I am so sorry that you are going through this! I think you should go on the interview and find out more about the position. Once you have more info you can make a decision. I hope everything works out for you!!

It's good to vent, let's you blow off some steam. Def go on the interview and hope for the best, you never know where that open window may lead! Just remember to remain calm through all this, breathe and try to relax about things. It'll all be ok!!!

Re: overwhelmed...

Go on the interview and see what they have to say.
What is it about the district that makes you unsure that you would want to work there?
Also, keep sending resumes, you will get lots of calls over the summer.
Good luck!

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I am def going to go on the interview, it is just that I have heard alot of stories about the district being 'tough' do to the climate of the kids and whatnot.

I will update after I go .
