does anyone else feel like there are too many decisions to make? i still can't pick out a photog, and i've seen about nine, all i've gotten done is the venue and the d.j., and the wedding is next august and ive been engaged since february...i feel completely overwhelmed and depressed by how overwhelmed i feel...any of you ladies feel this way? what do you do to decompress?

I'm feeling the same way! Don't worry, my wedding is in April 2012 and I only booked the hall! My sister picked her dress. That's it... but I do have a photographer appt tomorrow...and a dress appt on Thurs. I think you are right on schedule. You are doing fine.
It's normal to feel overwhelmed. Just breathe, relax and try and enjoy the planning. It's a happy time for us girls!

Also, I found this list in a magazine of 'what to do 12 months before the wedding, 11 months, 10 months, etc... I think this would be perfect for you b/c you are 12 months out. Maybe it will help for you to work off a list, and check them off as you do them, so you feel like you accomplish things It will keep you organized too!

I got engaged on NYE and getting married in Nov. U will be just fine, u still have a whole year to go.

TAKE YOUR TIME. Seriously, I rushed into so many of my decisions, and wish I would have really researched more and went home and slept on my decisions. It all ends up working out, and I'm fine with everything now... but the planning process stage your in now is fun!! Overwhelming, but fun

I love LIW, but the brides on here (me included) tend to be on the obsessive side, we are getting things done early. You still have a year, you are fine. Have you looked at the checklist on LIW or the Knot? They help you keep track.
Also, finding a photographer was one of the most difficult parts for us so far.

i have seen all those timelines, but i still feel overwhelmed...i don't have a lot of help, mostly because my schedule doesn't really coincide with my sister's (my MOH) or my mom, and unfortunately my bridesmaids don't seem very excited except one, who lives far away :( so i'm really doing this on my own...FH would help but he's not a very good negotiator lol...i actually hired someone to help me out a little...and yes, the photograpy decision is hard...i feel like it's harder than booking the hall was...i feel like there's so many litle details i need to figure out...its very stressful!

Take it one decision at a time. We planned our whole wedding in under 6 months, and it all worked out.
I would def get the main vendors out the door first -- photographer, videographer if you're having one, florist, etc. I think dress is something I would look at soon also - because I did mines so close to the date most places had a rush fee (I negotiated out of it), but it's a good place to start.
All the other details you can do as time goes.

Take a deeeeep breath! We are here for you Focus on one vendor at a time and make sure you have a very clear vision of your expectations from that vendor.
I got a lot ideas from going to bridal shows and reading planning books (like David Tutera's books, and the brides book of lists)
It can all be very overwhelming, but this is supposed to be fun too! Don't lose sight of the end result and take advantage of your bridesmaids and LIW forums!

yes I constantly feel like this, and with two busy seasons ahead I really feel overwhelmed. appointments take up so much time its insane

thank you ladies, i needed these supportive words! and yes, appointments take up WAY too much time! i really wanted to get everything done this summer before i go back to work, but no dice. it's going to be a rough year!
