Overwhelmed by choices... where to start

Original post by maine1981

I have narrowed down my venue search to a few locations so far. Our list is approximately 150. We do not have a date set so our choices are wide open, as well as time of year. We are looking for something classic, not too ornate or typical. So far our list is Fox Hollow, Old Field Club, The View and Insignia. Any reviews on them or suggestions? Thanks

Check out Flowerfield in St. James. I just got married there and there simply are no words to describe it. The food and service was beyond anything I could've ever possibly imagined. They will practically give you anything you want. It's one event at a time and being treated like royalty doesn't even begin to explain it!!

I'm booked at The Metropolitan for next March. It's incredible in there. We thought it would be so very out of our price range, and they came in under budget!!!!! We have a minimum of 120 for a Sunday, but our guest list is at 147 for now.

You MUST check them out!

The Lessing locations are beautiful. Also look into Westbury Manor, Jericho Terrace. My venue Crest Hollow is great also, but idk if you'll consider it ornate, same for Chateau Briand. They are very modern and have a beautiful entrance into the building and their rooms are to die for.

I went to a Bat Mitzvah at Insignia. The food was wonderful and the people were amazingly nice (I helped plan the Bat). Two things that I would note about having a wedding there - the tables where we sat was on the left side when you walk in and you really do not get any view of the dance floor. We had tv's placed in the corners of the room so that people seated could see the candle lighting and picture montage. Second, maybe because this was a Bat, the tables that are around what became the dance floor (wooden floor area in the middle) became a dumping ground for shoes, purses, jackets, etc. If you have any specific questions, let me know.

I'm also a bit biased to the Thatched Cottage with our wedding being there last year. Like the above poster said, for the money you'd be paying, you can't beat it.
