Re: Own make up or Pro?
quite honstly, i do not want the stress of doing my own makeup on my wedding day. i know how to do my own makeup very well, but i think for peace of mind, i will have someone else do it.

own
i have exactly 8 months to practice!
edited to say: i don't intend to do it all myself...my sister and my girls have been designated to help!
I'm debating this myself. I know I could save $$$ doing it myself, but the pressure to get it right on your wedding day may just be too much for me.

Re: Own make up or Pro?
After weighing both options, I chose the pro. Doing your make-up to look good in person and doing it to look good in photos are two different things. Also, I'm getting married in June so it might be hot and/or humid, and I want the make-up to last all-day (except probably for lipstick - I'll have to touch that up). When I do my own, it usually only lasts a few hours before I need to touch up.

Re: Own make up or Pro?
I'm going to let a pro do it. Even though I do wear makeup like everyday, I don't wear much and I'm far from a pro. I'm sure they'll know lots of little tips and secrets that I'm not aware of.

Re: Own make up or Pro?
I am practicing now. I feel more comfortable when I do my own make-up. I went to a dept store and had them do my make-up yesterday. I said natural, and apparently that meant smokey eyes, frosty eyeshadow, bronzer galore, and deep red lipstick. I like wearing make-up, but I like a more subtle look for my wedding. So I'm just doing it myself.

Re: Own make up or Pro?
I'm going to go for trials to see if I like it better done by a pro or if I on my own -I dont use foundation - so that is something that i need to learn - but i've had my makeup done before and I really like the way i do my eyemakeup better

Re: Own make up or Pro?
I debated this much myself.... I am quite good at doing my own make-up and can do others quite well also, however, my wedding day is something different.
I was worried that it would be like having a 'bad hair day' but only it would be a 'bad makeup day'....
Like someone else said, I didn't want the stress.
Also, you get so used to doing your own makeup that you tend to do it the same way all the time. On your wedding day, you want something different. Not that you want to look like someone else....just a dressier, more beautiful you.
Either way, you will look gorgeous!

Re: Own make up or Pro?
Pro. My makeup never lasts long enough and I can't quite cover my blemishes so that you don't see them. I also don't want to wind up with the same look that I always have.
The other thing is that makeup artists know better how to accentuate things and hide things, plus sometimes more makeup is needed in order to look as good in pictures as you do in person.

Re: Own make up or Pro?
I am doing my own, only because I went for a trial and since I don't normally wear makeup I felt really, really strange. There was just too much stuff on my face. I went to Clinique and got a makeover, bought the stuff, I've been practicing and I think I should be fine.

I'm still torn. I haven't done any trials yet. Does anyone have any idea the price range of getting make up applied professional?
ThankYOu Danielle

Re: Own make up or Pro?
Pro, for all the same reasons listed above. There is no way I can come close to doing the same work as JN! I spent alot on photography because I wanted great pictures. It would be wasted $ if I don't look as good as I possibly can.
